Little Reflection on the Highs/Lows of the SF Giants Season

With the season over for the San Francisco Giants, it’s now time to start thinking about next year. The G-men are currently searching for their next GM, and there’s no certainty as to if this next GM will have an estate sale with the current roster, or look to make some big free agent signings…

One thing for certain is that this past season was full of highs and full of lows. I know one of the saddest moments, was Hunter Pence‘s final game in a Giants uniform. He still hopes to play next season, but it’s almost certain that it won’t be in a Giants uniform. I’m sure most Giants fans hope he picks up somewhere else, because most wish him nothing but the best. Pence is going down as a forever Giant!

Another high/low moment was watching Andrew McCutchen play in a Giants uniform. I personally loved watching him play everyday. However, our overall team just wasn’t performing so it only made sense to part ways and try to get something back for him. He’s a free agent now that the season is over anyways, so it was pointless to keep him when we were falling out of the playoff race.

Another high/low was watching Evan Longoria. Again, I really loved watching this guy play in a Giants uniform. His injury was another huge blow to our lineup and how we performed. I’m glad he’s coming back next season, cause I want to see him when he’s comfortable and playing injury free for the entire season.

The final one I’ll talk about today is Madison Bumgarner. He came into camp in really good shape and then gets hurt right before the season. That pretty much set the tone for the entire season. He did come back and pitched pretty decent, but fans are starting to think he’s not the ace he once was. The really low part from this season is have we all seen Bumgarner pitch in a Giants uniform for the last time? It’s not clear if the new GM will want to keep him or trade him away to stock up our minor league talent…
