The Yankee Think Tank Is Now In Session

Tomorrow the Yankee front office will gather to strategize how they can go deeper into the post season in 2019.  With Didi Gregorius likely out most of next season, infield shifts are likely, farm team showcases a must and trades are a possibility.  In addition is the continued need for starting pitching and will this be the year we actually make a move for a game changer on the hill?  As October roars by and the World Series beginning this week with the Red Sox taking center stage, the Yankee think tank is in session with a lot of work to do to assemble a winning team for next season.

“Options may develop during the offseason,’’ Cashman said. “It’s Voit’s position to lose and Bird’s to take back. Bird’s ceiling is still his ceiling. And we’ll see if anyone else pushes in as an alternative. … The great thing about baseball is you always have a chance to change the narrative,” according to the New York Post.

Last season, it was all about Shohei Ohtani and when he opted to head to Los Angeles, Cashman closed the deal of Giancarlo Stanton.  This season will focus on a pitching and filling the void at short stop.  But as our GM says, it’s anyone’s opportunity.  “Cashman already has said Gary Sanchez will remain the starting catcher and there are other jobs locked down, such as Aaron Judge in right field and Gleyber Torres at second base — unless he is asked to shift to shortstop in Gregorius’ absence,” reported the Post.

As the front office has exploratory conversations about improving the rotation, filling gaps in the infield and continues to conceptualize a winning culture for this team, the Red Sox make a a run at another championship.  May the best team win and may that team not be Boston.
