SF Giants Additions: Catchers, Outfield, Relievers & Ex-Giants on the Move…
In case you haven’t been paying attention lately, the San Francisco Giants have been making some moves lately. They might not be the sexy moves that everyone is hoping for, but they’re still adding depth to the roster.
Giants Behind the Dish
We heard the Giants have signed catcher Rene Rivera to a minor league deal. As of right now, Buster Posey and Aramis Garcia are the two catchers on the 40-man roster. Posey is coming off hip surgery so the Giants will see if he’s 100% by Opening Day. Which is why they’re adding catching depth. The Giants have agreed to a deal with catcher Stephen Vogt. However, that deal isn’t official as of yet, it’s still pending a physical.
SF Giants Outfield
In another minor league deal, the G-Men have signed outfielder Gerardo Parra. With the lack of an accomplished outfield, the Giants are still making moves to have more options for the outfield. Another outfielder that is linked to the Giants is Cameron Maybin. There’s also SF Giants Rumors that Bryce Harper could be a possibility. SF Giants Add Arms
Yesterday the Giants announced that they claimed starting RHP Jose Lopez from the Cincinnati Reds.
Today the Giants announced that they have aquired RHP Trevor Gott from the Washington Nationals for cash. Gott had 20 relief appearances (0-2 with a 5.68 ERA) for the Nationals and 28 relief appearances in AAA (1-1 with a 3.68 ERA) last season.
Ex-Giants on the Move
Reliever Sergio Romo is taking his services to the Miami Marlins as he’s signed a deal with Derek Jeter‘s Marlins. Catcher Nick Hundley is going to stay in the Bay Area and will be down in the squat for the Oakland Athletics next season!
