Three Questions About the Bears as Training Camp Gets Closer

Following a season in which the Bears went 12-4 and won the NFC North before falling to the Eagles in the NFC Wild Card game, there’s a lot of excitement for the upcoming season.

Now that the calendar has turned to July, the start of training camp is closing in and things are ramping up for the franchise to get ready for 2019.

Today we take a quick look at three questions about this team as they get set to embark on what they hope will be a season playing into early February.

1. Can the D Have a Repeat of 2018?

The Bears defense was the best in the NFL in terms of allowing just 17.7 points per game, and overall they were right at the top in most of the rankings in the NFL.

The D lost Vic Fango to the Denver Broncos, and there’s bound to be a bit of a letdown, but this was the strength of the team and they need this unit to again step up and play well.

Chuck Pagano will have a lot of pressure on him to keep this unit great again in 2019, and here’s hoping he can have a great camp and motivate this squad.

2. Let’s Get Off to Another Quick Start

Last season after a crushing loss to start the season to the Packers, the Bears ran off four straight, and then after losses to the Dolphins and Patriots, the team ran off five straight.

This season the club starts with another huge game, this time on Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers at home.

After that they take on Denver on the road, then travel to Washington before coming home for a big NFC North game against the Vikings.

An early start is key for a possible NFC North Title repeat.

3. Mitch Ready to Be a Star

Third-year Bears QB Mitch Trubisky went 11-3 as a starter last season, and after throwing 24 scores and 12 picks, he’s ready to be a star in this league.

Trubiksy had four games in which he threw for 300 yards or more, and threw for two touchdowns or more in seven games.

With Matt Nagy a big part of the success of Trubisky, don’t be surprised to see the QB not only make the Pro Bowl, but also to be in the running for an MVP by year’s end.
