Three Questions About the Redskins as Training Camp Gets Closer

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden has the task of trying to get this team to back to the top of the NFC East, this after a 7-9 season in 2018.

The team had an awful season on offense, and the defense was about the middle of the pack. The Skins are not expected to have a big season, but if you use BetAmerica promotions you can place some money on them before the season gets rolling.

The quarterback season is a huge question, as well as if Adrian Peterson has enough to again go over 1000 yards at 33 years old.

Today we take a look at three questions about this team as camp closes in at the end of the month.

1. Who Starter Under Center?

Yes the team put a ton of stock in picking up Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins with their first-round pick, but also have veterans Case Keenum, Colt McCoy looking for playing time.

Camp will go a long way in trying to figure out who is going to be slinging the ball come opening day for this team against the Eagles, and many think that Haskins should get the first crack at quarterback.

If Haskins isn’t the starter there will be a level of disappointment among those that put so much into drafting him.

2. How Does the Left Guard Spot Line Up?

The team will have an open competition for the starting job at left guard once camp kicks off.

Former first-round pick Ereck Flowers was signed in free agency to see whether he can bounce back after a tough start to his NFL career, making the move from tackle to guard.

Also in the mix to start at guard will be fourth-round pick Wes Martin (Indiana) and fifth-rounder Ross Pierschbacher (Alabama)

The team resigned Tony Bergstrom as well, though many think that he will be on the outside looking in to be a starter.

“We’re hoping that athletically, the skill set that Ereck has, he can do that,” Gruden said. “But Ereck is also a good tackle. So we have some options there. We’ll look at all of them.”

3. Can Anyone Step Up at Receiver?

Last season the leading receiver for the Redskins was tight end Jordan Reed, who caught 54 passes for 558 yards with two scores.

There’s a level of excitement as the team drafted Terry McLaurin in the third round out of Ohio State, and he could be a starter come opening day.

With Jamison Crowder gone to the New York Jets, the team will need catchers to make plays downfield for whoever is throwing the football.

Look for Josh Doctson and Paul Richardson Jr. to have chances to keep the starting jobs to begin the season, but it looks like there will be plenty of changes as the season moves on.
