CB Kevin King’s Hamstring Injury Not Expected to Keep Him Out of Action Very Long

Cornerback Kevin King’s hamstring injury ended his 2018 season, and now he’s back on the sidelines missing time due to yet another injury to his hammy.

The corner missed practice Saturday due to the injury, but the good news is that GM Brian Gutekunst says he thinks that King will be back sooner than later.

“It sounds like he’s going to be OK and it shouldn’t be a long-term thing,” Gutekunst said.
“We’ll kind of wait and see, though. Those things you usually know a little bit more in a few days here. When guys have continuous things it’s always bothersome. He was having a great camp so far. But hopefully he’ll be back pretty quickly.”

Gutekunst was asked if he felt that the 2017 second-round pick would need extra time to get back to where he was when he was first injured.

“I wouldn’t say he’s back to where we have been. Obviously, every player goes through a maturation phase of becoming a pro and I think Kevin’s done an outstanding job,” Gutekunst said.

“He got bit with this thing at the end of the Family Night. I’m hopeful that he’s back out there fully fairly quickly and we’ll go. Kevin’s done the things he needs to do to put himself in good position. He just kind of got bit. Sometimes these things happen. It’s unfortunate but he’s looked really good so far.”

King has played in only 15 games his first two NFL seasons, mostly due to shoulder and hamstring injuries.
