The NFL is a Very Different Game Then When It Started 100 Years Ago, Here’s a Couple Ways It’s Evolved

It’s hard to believe, but 2019 is the 100th season of the NFL, and this year the league is celebrating it in a big way – with the ‘NFL 100’ celebration already having started with this first week of action around the country.

Millions of people on a weekly basis watch the NFL on television, and thousands attend games that greatly impact the economy around North America.

The game that started some 100 years ago is plenty different than the one that is being played today, and if you watch highlights of a game from say 1950, the game of 2019 is vastly different.

Today we will take a look at some of the big changes that have made the National Football League the greatest and most popular game in the world.

One thing that has shaped the game is that of the merger between the National Football League, the NFL, and the American Football League – the AFL.

The AFL when it came about was a league of upstarts, run by many owners who could not get their hands on an NFL franchise at the time.

If you go back, the first four Super Bowls were between the NFL and the AFL, with the NFL winning the first two and the AFL winning the final two – that being the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs, and if NFL Betting Betway would have been around, you could have seen how big an underdog the AFL teams were in those two games.

The AFL started in 1959, and it also stated a bidding war for players, which in a number of cases, was won by the American Football League.

Finally in 1966, a deal was agreed and a 24-team league was formed with two conferences – the AFC, featuring the former AFL franchises, and the NFC, featuring the remaining NFL franchises.

Another key to making the game what it is today is (of course) the Super Bowl, the biggest game on planet Earth played on the first Sunday in February.

Over 100 million viewers watch the Super Bowl each year, and even if you’re not a football fan, you still tune in and watch the game, or are at a party based around the game.

As we get ready for Super Bowl 54 this February, it’s still the biggest and best day of the year, and it’s basically a national holiday, insane thinking that the first Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs wasn’t even sold out.

One other thing that’s changed the game was the thing that takes place during the Super Bowl, that being the halftime show.

The biggest musical acts in the world have been on stage for the Super Bowl halftime, including The Who, Bruce Springsteen and Prince.

The Super Bowl halftime really took off in 1993 when the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson took the stage in the Rose Bowl in California, and people really took notice.

Since then, there’s been a ton of memorable moments, and there will be more to come, but the NFL seems to have its pulse on continuing to evolve into the great sport that it is.
