The Experts Agree That the Cowboys Are Still One of the Favorites to Win it All in 2020

They have the talent, they have the players, and they have a history of winning.

But in 2020 the biggest different with the Dallas Cowboys will be a glaring one – that being a new voice on the sidelines.

For the first time since 2010 the Cowboys won’t be listening to Jason Garrett, but instead they now will have the services on the sideline of former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy, who will be running the show for now into the future for the franchise.

McCarthy joining the Cowboys is a necessary evil, as the team simply could not go back to Garrett after the team fell short of the playoffs again.

With that, now that the 2019 season is officially over with the Chiefs 31-20 Super Bowl win Sunday over the San Francisco 49ers, NFL odds have the Cowboys tied for fifth overall at 15-1 to win the Super Bowl a year from now.

The reason?

Simple – this is a team that is still built to win now, and with some tinkering in the offseason and the signing of one very important position (more on that in a moment), the Cowboys should be right at the top as the favorite to win the NFC East, something they fell short of in 2019.

Now to that important position. Quarterback Dak Prescott needs a new contract, and the team is still talking to his representatives about a new contract that will keep him under center for years to come in Big D.

If they can’t come to a deal, you can still count on Prescott being in Dallas for no less than 2020, as the team will franchise him, possibly risk ticking him off, but keeping him under center with a one-year deal that will pay him the average of the top quarterbacks in the NFL.

Another reason this team is 15-1 for winning Super Bowl 55 is Ezekiel Elliott, a dynamic player coming off another Pro Bowl appearance last week.

Elliott has had his share of off the field issues, but still rushed for 1,357 yards this past season with 12 scores, again establishing himself as one of the top running backs in the game.

Make no mistake, McCarthy never had a running back with the talent of Elliott in Green Bay during his tenure, and he’ll find it a pleasure with the game on the line to give the Cowboys back the ball late in the game needing a couple yards to clinch a win.

So while you were watching the ‘Big Game’ between the Chiefs and 49ers, the Cowboys were already in planning mode, having to start with a way to get back Prescott, and also going over their list of what needs to be done this offseason.

The experts agree that this team is ready to take the next step – the odds for a Super Bowl win in one year prove it.
