3 Games The Giants Must Win To Qualify For The Playoffs

It’s wild to believe, but the New York Giants have a legitimate shot to make the playoffs. After 10 weeks of football, there is not a single team in the NFC East with more than three wins. At 3-7, the Giants are a half game back of the Philadelphia Eagles, and sit in second place in the division. 

As the Giants prepare for the back stretch of the season, the team has to believe they can make the playoffs. Granted, of the seven losses that the Giants have, five of those losses have come on one possession, while two have come by just one point. Six to seven wins will win the NFC East, and if the Giants are going to party in East Rutherford, then the team will have to win these three games. 

Giants @ Bengals (11/29)

A lot of normal betters will not see this on the New Jersey sports betting page, but to the avid G-Man fan, this is a critical game. The Bengals are 2-6-1, so this screams potential for the Giants. This may be hard to believe, but the Giants own the No. 7 ranked rush defense in the league, barely allowing over 100 yards per game on the ground. Joe Mixon could return by then, but even if he does, the Giants are poised to keep him in check. 

It will then come down to who is the better quarterback that day. Former top-10 draft picks Daniel Jones and Joe Burrow will get a chance to showcase their young talent. Coming out of the bye, the Giants will be well-rested. This will be a must-win game right out of the gate. 

Giants vs. Browns (12/20)

After the Giants play the Bengals, the team plays the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals. If the Giants truly want to win the division, they will need to steal at least one of those games. On the stretch side, we are going to say that six wins could get the job done, so beating Cleveland is essential. 

In terms of overall defense, the Browns are ranked No. 16 in yards allowed per game, while the Giants are ranked No. 17. The Browns are 6-3 on the year though. Given that the Giants can stop the run, beating the Browns could happen. Cleveland relies way too much on Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt to lead the offense. Stop Chubb, and the Giants could win this game. 

Giants vs. Cowboys (1/3)

If there is a chance the Giants are either 5-10 or 6-9, the last game of the season could dictate the team’s plans in January. The Giants should have won this game the first time around when quarterback Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending injury; however, Andy Dalton willed the team to a 37-34 victory. 

The Cowboys could very well be in the playoff picture too as they sit with a 2-7 record. The Giants need all the winnable games in order to make the playoffs. This could be the biggest game of the season if the Giants can take care of the work beforehand.
