Good to see Eddie Jones mischief-making again, suggesting that he might counter the physicality of the Georgian pack in their Autumn Nations Cup encounter next weekend by selecting 9 forwards in the English starting line up.

The suggestion is that someone like the very rapid Ben Earl might be deployed on the wing against Georgia.

Picking a back row forward on the wing is a tactic that Jones has used before – successfully for Japan against the Georgians in 2015 – but, whilst perhaps understandable when coaching the physically smaller Japanese, it is not unreasonable to expect that an English pack would have more than enough to cope without having to resort to having an extra forward on the field.

The media, however, are lapping it up, much like they did last year when Jones suggested he might select winger Jack Nowell at open side flanker which, of course, he never did.

It appears that we never learn…
