Bengals Move Career-Sack Leader Carlos Dunlap to the Seahawks

In a move that could have been considered a shock to many, the Bengals Wednesday moved their all-time sack leader, veteran defensive end Carlos Dunlap.

Cincinnati traded Dunlap out west to the Seattle Seahawks, getting in return offensive lineman B.J. Finney and a seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft.

The trade won’t be official until after 4pm.

Seattle, who enter week eight with a mark of 5-1, are still having issues on defense, having allowed the most yards of any team through six games in NFL history.

Their defense broke down Sunday night as they seemed to have their prime-time game against the Arizona Cardinals won, only to allow QB Kyler Murray and the Cardinals to do enough to rally to eventually win the game in overtime.

The Hawks were not credited with an official hit on Murray during the three-point loss, reason enough for Seattle to pull the trigger on bringing in Dunlap.

Dunlap had two more seasons left on the contract extension he inked a few years back. He had been getting more and more frustrated with the coaching staff as well as his role on the team.

The 31-year-old reportedly went after defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo regarding his playcalling following Sunday’s 37-34 wild loss at Paul Brown Stadium to the Browns.

Dunlap was a 2010 second-round pick of the Bengals, and in 11 seasons he put up 82.5 sacks.
