Rodgers Proves It Again That a Packers Super Bowl Trophy is in Reach With Him Under Center
The Green Bay Packers opening day was nothing short of impressive from an offensive standpoint, and for those that were writing the obit for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, suddenly those people are nowhere to be found after the 43-34 statement victory at division rival Minnesota.
Rodgers is 36 years old, but if you think that he’s too old to hoist a Lombardi trophy, just look at the top QB’s in the NFL, as most are north of the age 30.
Sure you have guys like Pat Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and DeShaun Watson who are all young, explosive and are being hailed as the “future of the NFL,” but Rodgers and his other “old” NFL mates have something to say before riding off in the sunset.
Putting all your money on Rodgers is as safe as finding a good online casino, and the way that the quarterback masterfully ran the offense against a good Vikings team has to be heralded as one of the highlights in all of week one in the NFL.
If you think that Rodgers ISN’T going to be in the mix with the term “MVP” attached to his name – think again.
Scoring 43 points on the road and doing it on a day when he got off to a “slow start” is amazing. He led the Pack to 19 points in the second quarter, 14 of those points were scored in 25 seconds when he hit Davante Adams from 24 yards out to make it 15-7.
He got the ball back as a gift, and needed just two plays and 11 seconds to go the final 45 yards, hitting Marquez Valdes-Scantling with a score making it 22-7.
Today ESPN discussed Rodgers on their popular morning show, “First Take,” and there’s an agreement that the QB still has Plenty of gas left in the tank.
Rodgers threw for two more scores in the second half, and were careful to not give the ball away carelessly, making the Vikings have to go most of the field to keep up point-wise with the green and gold.
The NFC North again appears that it’s going to have to run through Green Bay, much like it did last season when the team won the division, and got all the way to the NFC Title game prior to losing to the San Francisco 49’ers on the road.
Now the team is back, and Rodgers proved it on Sunday that he’s nowhere near ready to take his cleats and hang em up.
Coach Matt LaFluer has to worry about an O-line that is banged up, but if there’s one player Sunday that should get a pass for a long time to come – it’s ARod.
