Wilson and the Seahawks Don’t Miss a Beat on Offense from the End of 2019

The Seattle Seahawks had a lot of expectations when they took the field in a fan-less Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday against the Falcons, but the team did more then enough to pull away with a 38-25 shootout win to earn win number one.

The game was highlighted by the play of maybe the best player on the Hawks roster, that being Russell Wilson, who threw passes to nine receivers, finishing 31-of-35 for 322 yards.

That wasn’t all out of last season’s team MVP, Wilson carried the ball three times for a team-high 29 yards rushing.

Betting on Wilson and the Seahawks offense right now is like going to an online casino that’s paying out big money.

You can see it the moment you sit down, this offense has weapons and a plan, and Sunday it was executed perfectly as they piled up 21 pass plays on their first 35 plays run.

Wilson didn’t look nervous at all against the Falcons, and why would he? Last season he played at an MVP level for basically the entire season, and while he and the team eventually fell apart and struggled in the NFC Divisional round against the Packers in Lambeau Field, there was an underlying tone that this team was going to be even better in 2020.

That start against the Falcons on the road helped out, as Atlanta had all kinds of trouble themselves on offense moving the ball, and it wasn’t until the Seahawks scored two touchdowns thanks to Wilson touchdown passes in the third quarter that the Falcons finally came to life themselves.

The game for Wilson was typical Russell, throwing for 322 yards and four scores in the win. His touch pass to D.K. Metcalf was a thing of beauty, and you can expect that there’s plenty more of those coming in 2020.

What is the limit for Wilson, and what’s the limit for this offense? Yes the team had struggles rushing the ball, as Chris Carson ran for just 21 yards on six carries, but he also pulled in six passes for 45 yards, with two of the passes going for touchdowns.

The formula will likely stay the same this week when the team hosts an old friend – Cam Newton – who now resides in New England playing with the Patriots.

Newton ran in two scores in the New England opening day win, and with the prime time NBC spotlight of “Sunday night Football” on Seattle, it should be a classic matchup that again can show off just how long and how well this team will keep playing.
