Mrs. Urban Breaks News of Brent’s Return to Baltimore

What a weekend for the city of Baltimore, huh? Between the long-awaited arrival of top prospect Adley Rutschman to the Orioles, and the Preakness, it was one of the rare weekends where the football team in Owings Mills and the happenings around them weren’t the talk of the town. Nonetheless, the Ravens were still busy making moves for the roster and for the community, so let’s dive right in as we get one week closer to the start of the season!

As reported by the boss of the Urban household, a familiar face is returning to the purple and black for the 2022 season. Brent Urban is the latest former Raven to come back home, following in the footsteps of the likes of Pernell McPhee and Tony Jefferson. The number of players who leave Baltimore and come back for a second stint speaks volumes about the culture and environment the front office has built over the years. While some may complain about the lack of interest from free agent wide receivers, there’s no denying that at every other position there are few more desirable teams to play for in the entire NFL.

After having career highs in tackles and sacks for the Bears in 2020, a triceps injury cost Urban the majority of the 2021 campaign in Dallas. If he can return back to form from said injury, he’ll be an integral rotational piece along the Ravens’ interior defensive line this year at a more than manageable cost. If there’s any place on earth where a veteran defensive player can come to after a lost season and put together a hell of a rebound, it’s Baltimore. Glad to have you back Brent; here’s hoping you come back with a vengeance!

The team also hosted their “Play Like A Raven” youth football clinic on Saturday, where aspiring young players had an invaluable opportunity to learn from some of the game’s best. It always warms the heart to see the Ravens giving back to the community in special ways like this, while creating memories that will last a lifetime for those kids. Also, shout out to the overzealous little guy in the white headband trying to knock the ball out of Gus Edwards’ hand. Something tells me he’s going to force a lot of turnovers for his own team in the not too distant future!

Congratulations are in order for Ravens photographers Shawn Hubbard and Joey Pulone, both of whom took home awards from the Pro Football Hall of Fame for their outstanding work in the 2021 season! Their shots capturing pivotal moments such as Justin Tucker’s 66-yard field goal in Detroit and the outstanding Sunday Night Football win against Kansas City will now be immortalized forever by the game’s most prestigious organization. Pretty awesome stuff!

Peter Schrager recently released his choices for the five most underrated quarterbacks in NFL history, and there are two former Ravens on his list, though the top spot goes to a guy who of course is better known as a Tennessee Titan. Still, kudos to him for seeing what we’ve all known forever, and for having an eye for only the most ELITE talent. Flacco forever.
