Kohli and Yadav Are Top Picks of Kevin Pietersen’s T20 World Cup Team

Kevin Pietersen, former English cricketer sat down to list out his favorite players from the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Kevin has made a detailed analysis of all the players that he deemed fit for his squad. Players from countries like England, India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and New Zealand are included in the list. From the Indian squad, he included the finest – Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli.

About Virat Kohli, Kevin says that he enjoyed watching “King Kohli” getting back on his feet throughout the tournament. Pietersen hoped that Kohli would surely end the World Cup as the “top run-scorer by a comfortable margin”. Pietersen says that he has always supported Kohli to get back to the top. The 34-year-old batsman has always proved himself to be the life and soul of the Blue-clad cricketer for his country.

In a very short period, Kohli has made a lasting impression on the entire cricket community. He currently stands at 12^th place in Test cricket, 7^th place in the ODIs, and 11^th place in T20 according to the ICC Ranking. Arguably one of the finest ODI batsmen of all time, and certainly the greatest of his generation, Virat Kohli has played two senior World Cups after leading the junior team to the title in 2008. Most known for his fiery temper, Kohli hides a fire up his sleeve.

The second Indian player on Pietersen’s list is Suryakumar Yadav. A talented right-handed batsman from Mumbai, Yadav received an IPL (Indian Premier League) contract from Mumbai Indians in 2011, for whom he played a few IPL matches until 2013, before getting picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders. Owing to his amazing performances over the years that followed, he was finally picked to open the batting for IPL 2018. Yadav remained consistent in his performance from that day on.

Even Pietersen applauds his IPL career by saying that, “He’s lit up the IPL for several years”. Kevin in the blog seemed to be fanboying over him when he said that he feels that it is always spectacular to watch Yadav bat. Kevin even goes so far as to say that Yadav is “one of the best white-ball batters around at the moment.” The 32-year-old right-handed batsman and having a strike rate of 179.08, currently holds the first rank in ICC rankings for T20 cricket, and admirably he is the only Indian player to be among the top 10 batsmen in T20.
