OTL: On Location from Heinz…Acriscure Stadium
This is a special OTL for me, because I had the distinct honor of watching a Ravens victory in Pittsburgh. There is no better feeling than walking down the stadium steps high-fiving every Ravens fan I could while listening to Steelers fans curse their team.
But if you told me that this would happen…
Ravens QB Tyler Huntley is in the medical tent on the sideline after taking that hard hit on third down.
Anthony Brown, an undrafted rookie, is warming up on the sideline.

…and that Marlon Humphrey was a “liability in coverage,” as he himself admitted…
I was actually a liability today in coverage. Bad football for sure. Butttt we won which means…The Show goes on! This is my home! VICTORY iG Live in 15 minutes..!

…I would have asked for a hit of whatever you were smoking.
But lo and behold, the Ravens kept the mistakes to a minimum and the grit to the maximum, led by a gutsy performance by undrafted rookie QB Anthony Brown. He came into some of the toughest circumstances you could possibly think of and handled himself like a consummate pro.
He mostly handed the ball off, but threw well when asked, getting the Ravens off their goalline and across midfield on third-down in the fourth quarter.
Ravens QB Anthony Brown said he signed with the team in the first place because he trusted the organization’s plan for him.

Brown’s entrance prompted many Steelers fans to ask me, “Who is that?”
“Anthony Brown, undrafted rookie out of Oregon,” I responded.
One thought about it for a second then said, “Well we can’t stop your run game so I guess it doesn’t matter anyway.” He wasn’t wrong.
The Ravens are over 200 yards rushing today. Without Kevin Zeitler.

Greg Roman deserves his share of the credit. Say what you will about him in many (many) other situations, but he was consistently pulling the right levers today.
The Roman thing has run it’s course, and I’m still in favor of moving on after the year. But goddamn it, that guy sacked up big time today. Have to give him his due.

Having J.K. Dobbins back was, as predicted, huge for this offense. It’s impossible not to smile at his pure joy at being able to play again, and this W in Pittsburgh was especially sweet.
JK Dobbins came back and DOMINATED the Steelers for 120 yards and a TD.
The @Ravens RB seemed ecstatic to be back in his post-game interview.

Gus Edwards ran well, too, but the rest of the game came down to defense and special teams. Lucky for the Ravens, they’re quite good at those things, especially with Roquan Smith and Patrick Queen patrolling the middle of the field.
The Roquan Smith trade is one of the best deadline trades in recent memory

Patrick Queen this year
• 85 tackles
• 4 sacks
• 2 interceptions
• 1 forced fumble pic.twitter.com/4cmwD5EHu9— Ramey (@HoodieRamey) December 11, 2022
Calais Campbell continues to be an absolute force as a field-goal blocker, being directly involved in or responsible for seemingly every recent Ravens FG block.
Campbell said Chris Horton called an audible on block FG. Moved Campbell to A gap. Said they hadn’t worked on it since last year. They made the change and Campbell got the block.

Major props for Chris Horton, too. I don’t know any other team that is able to consistently dial up play calls for field goal blocks and execute them to perfection.
And of course:
There is only one Justin Tucker

As is necessary after a win in Pittsburgh, the memes came out to play.

The Ravens’ social media team was not to be outdone, though.

I don’t know if they showed this on the broadcast, but the Ravens defense was waving towels on the sidelines as the stadium speakers blasted Styx’s “Renegade,” a Pittsburgh tradition when the opposing team’s offense takes the field in a late-game, high-leverage situation.
Calais Campbell really likes Renegade pic.twitter.com/nbJ88sN4zS

That’s when I knew we’d take it home.
What came next? A 13-play, 57-yard drive that took the game from 11:14 to 3:19 in the fourth quarter. Greg Roman sends his regards.
Ben Powers does, too. He got in on the fun with a post-game Instagram post.

Ben Powers might be the most improved OL in the NFL.
Completely different player.
— Cole Jackson (@ColeJacksonFB) December 11, 2022
Cole is not wrong! Powers is a definite extension candidate to continue to solidify the OL for years to come.
And finally, just because I want to get this on the record…
