Ravens Sign Kyle Van Noy to 2-Year Deal

The Ravens are bringing LB Kyle Van Noy back on a two-year deal. Reports say $9M with another potential $1M in incentives. Let’s talk about it!

It was no secret that KVN and the Ravens had mutual interest in continuing his tenure in Baltimore. Van Noy had acknowledged on social media that there had been contract talks, and they must have been close on a number. Wrapping this up before the Draft makes me feel a little better about EDGE, which was still a young unit with a lot to prove.

Does Van Noy’s return fix everything? No, but he can provide the veteran presence that they enjoyed with him last season, and maybe one more draft pick or free agent addition can round out the unit. As much as I wish Jadeveon Clowney would’ve been around too, I’m happy to have kept at least one of those guys.

I’m glad KVN is back. The deal is two years for $9M, and I’m guessing that the cap hit for 2025 is minimal if they decide to cut him.

He was a very productive player last year and a good voice in the locker room. The Ravens have some edge needs, so his return is welcomed.

The downside is his age. He’s at a point where the decline can come at any time and out of nowhere. Hopefully he has one more good year in him. Good risk to take either way.

This became an even bigger priority when Jadaveon Clowney took his pass rush to Carolina. Van Noy is the ultimate veteran to help lead a young edge group, and he showed a knack for making big plays last season — both in pass rush and busting through gaps to blow up runs.

This takes an immediate need off the to-do list and further enables the Ravens to target talent over position in the coming draft.

The thing that stands out about Kyle Van Noy is how hard he works off the edge. Having a veteran with his kind of motor and his kind of ferocity proved to be very valuable for the Ravens. This is a common sense move. Von Noy proved he’s a perfect fit in Baltimore. Why not bring him back? He plays like a Raven.

In a perfect world the Ravens would have had Jadeveon Clowney coming back with Van Noy. Losing both veterans would have left a big hole in the pass rushing rotation. The defense was great last season, even in their defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs. The goal should be keeping as much of that good defense in Baltimore as possible.

The move doesn’t break the bank. The second Van Noy inks the deal, John Harbaugh knows exactly what he’s getting. Signing Van Noy was a smart move last year; re-signing him was a no-brainer. There’s nothing not to like. The Ravens can always get more exciting in the pass rusher department, yet known quantities like Van Noy never go out of style.
