OTL: Ravens Show Off Fashion Sense in Paris

The NFL offseason is in one of its last gasps of inactivity, and speaking for myself and fans everywhere, I’m grateful for that. As Pat Ricard put it, this time of the year is kind of like summer vacation for the guys…

…with Training Camp only a few weeks away. The Ravens are scheduled to have rookies report on July 13th, with the veterans set to return the following week on July 20th before Training Camp begins on July 21st. So, in the meantime, what are the guys doing with their summer break?

Well, the team’s new helmets aren’t the only look the guys have featured lately.

Roquan Smith, Rashod Bateman, and Lamar Jackson were all in Paris for Fashion Week, which is truly a combination of words I did not see myself putting together, but here we are. That’s not any reflection on them, as these guys are far and away more plugged into the world of high society than I am; I just never foresaw a time writing about football that I would be dipping my toe into fashion.

The offseason is truly a weird time.

At any rate, Roquan Smith gave an inside look at his Fashion Week experience to GQ Sports, as both he and Rashod Bateman styled looks by Dior.

Meanwhile, LJ took full advantage of the experience and spent some time with fellow alien athlete and NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembenyama.

Fellow NFL stars Stefon Diggs, Justin Jefferson and Joe Burrow were in attendance as well, along with former Ravens QB Tyrod Taylor. Luckily for Joe B, runway walks aren’t a contact sport, or Roquan might have been busy.

Back stateside, it’s been a busy time of year for players hosting youth football camps, and several Ravens have been taking part. Brandon Stephens hosted a camp in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, joined by Justin Tucker and Jalyn Armour-Davis.

Broderick Washington and Roquan Smith also hosted youth camps, with Washington returning to his Alma mater, Longview High School in Texas, while Roquan hosted his locally at Baltimore City College. I was lucky enough to shoot some photos at a lineman camp this past summer with Broddy and Travis Jones, and seeing the passion these guys have for teaching young players is really neat. It’s an opportunity to give back, but also to reconnect to the joy of the game the way you loved it as a kid.

Not to be outdone in philanthropic endeavors, though, former Crimson Tide CB Marlon Humphrey made a sizeable donation to Alabama’s College of Communication and Information Sciences.

As someone who missed out on opportunities to pursue sports journalism in college, this is a cool gesture from Marlon, and I hope the students at UA really benefit from it. Of course, they’ll have to wait until school’s back in to take advantage of it, and the Ravens are going to continue to take full advantage of their time off while school’s out.
