Chicago White Sox can’t catch a break as two more players hit the injured list

The Chicago White Sox are one of the organizations that have had terrible luck keeping players healthy, as far too many of their players have ended up on the injured list. Most of the injuries have come to their pitching department, as a handful of their pitchers have had their seasons cut short with elbow injuries and requiring Tommy John surgery.
Sadly, the White Sox have yet again succumbed to their injuries as a couple more players have found their way onto the injured list and required more callups from the minor leagues.
The Chicago White Sox added two more to the injured list
The White Sox have announced that before today’s series finale against the Boston Red Sox, they have placed infielder Chase Meidroth on the 10-day injured list due to thumb inflammation and have placed left-handed pitcher Martín Pérez on the 60-day injured list after he left Friday’s game with forearm tightness.
The White Sox in a corresponding move selected the contract of first baseman Bobby Dalbec. The White Sox didn’t need to create a space for Dalbec on the 40-man roster, as Pérez being placed on the 60-day injured list cleared a spot.

The White Sox had signed Dalbec to a minor-league deal over the offseason, and he failed to make the team out of spring training and started the year down with Charlotte. In 12 games with the Knights, Dalbec has been on fire, hitting .326/.354/.696 for an OPS of 1.050 in 12 games.
Dalbec will hopefully provide the White Sox with some power at the first base position, as Andrew Vaughn has gotten off to a slow start in the power department. Dalbec had four home runs in 46 at-bats while down at Triple-A.
Dalbec will make his return to Fenway Park for the first time as a visiting player, as he had spent his entire five year career up to that point with the Red Sox. Dalbec was a former fourth round selection of the Red Sox back in the 2016 draft and made his Major League Debut four years later on August 30, 2020.
Pérez will be missed but thankfully dodged a bullet with Meidroth
Created:
Pérez going down was a blow that the White Sox could ill afford, as he had been their only other reliable starter next to Shane Smith. In his four starts, Pérez had a 1-1 record with a 3.15 ERA and an ERA+ of 129 while striking out 18 in 20.0 innings.
Pérez going on the 60-day injured list after being removed due to forearm tightness could signal the end of his season, as it could reveal him needing Tommy John surgery. However, that is still to be determined, as the White Sox will continue to evaluate him.
Thankfully, the White Sox dodged a bullet with Meidroth, as he should be back good as new once his trip on the injured list is over. Meidroth had been one of the White Sox’s best hitters since getting called up, and they’ll need his offensive production to not go on another losing streak.
