Lexie Hull on living under Caitlin Clark Microscope: ‘We’re not hiding anything’

.aitlin Clark’s impact on the WNBA has been immense. The former Iowa Hawkeyes star took the league by storm the moment she arrived as the Indiana Fever’s No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Clark broke all sorts of records in her debut campaign, en route to winning the Rookie of the Year title. In Year 2, she was named an All-Star for a second consecutive season despite being limited to just 13 games due to injury.

The 24-year-old is back with a vengeance in 2026. She started the season strong but has struggled in Indiana’s last two games, both losses. Nevertheless, with Clark now fully healthy, she is expected to lead the Fever to new heights this season.

Fever veteran Lexie Hull has been a first-hand witness to Clark’s rise to superstardom in the WNBA. Hull has been with the Fever since 2022. The 6-foot-2 guard has been teammates with Clark ever since the latter joined the squad two years ago.

A big part of Clark’s massive impact on the team is the extra attention she brings. Being arguably the biggest superstar in the WNBA today means all eyes are locked not only on Clark but also on her team.

Hull, however, sees no issue in living under the Caitlin Clark microscope.

“Honestly, it’s about continuing to show up and do what you do, regardless,” Hull said on a recent episode of “Yahoo! Sports Daily.” “There’s going to be a microscope on her. There was a microscope on her the moment she declared for the draft, and there was a microscope on her in college, too.

“For us, it’s about continuing to show up and do our job every single day. We’re not hiding anything, so there’s nothing we need to worry about when there’s a camera on us. It’s just extra attention.”

Hull emphasized how Clark’s unprecedented fame has lifted the league as a whole.
“And that’s something we’ve been asking for in the WNBA for years and years — more attention, more media coverage,” Hull continued. “Now that we’re here, that’s part of it.

“There are going to be highs and there are going to be lows. More than anything, we’re excited to continue highlighting the good moments we have as a team and as individuals, and to keep helping grow the sport.”

Those good moments have been hard to come by for the Fever of late, though. They are coming off a brutal 100-84 blowout loss to the Portland Fire in their last game. The Fever are currently 4-4 after losing two straight games.

Their next chance to bounce back is on Thursday in a marquee matchup against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
