Chicago Bears: Colston Loveland given a top-5 TE ranking, but below Packers star
The Chicago Bears offense took some Major steps forward in 2025 under then first-year head coach Ben Johnson. Quarterback Caleb Williams put up a franchise record in passing yards, and emerged as one of the NFL’s legitimate young talents at the position.
But for all the attention (which is deserved) that Williams gets, it is easy to overlook other immensely important players on Chicago’s offense. Perhaps the most important of these heading into 2026 is tight end Colston Loveland.

As a rookie in 2025, Loveland recorded 58 receptions for 713 yards and six touchdowns. These numbers are impressive for any tight end, let alone a rookie. His emergence as a lethal receiving threat had fans in the NFC North debating who was better: Loveland or Green Bay Packers star Tucker Kraft.
CBS Sports, currently, believes it is Kraft. On their top-ten rankings of every offensive position, the Packers tight end was ranked third at the position while Loveland was listed as fifth.
Of Loveland, CBS wrote, “Loveland also received a wide range of votes, but it’s not for injury uncertainty like Kittle. Rather, it’s whether he’s going to continue his late-season surge (94.5 yards per game over his last four games, including playoffs) or not. He’s a tremendous athlete with a big catch radius and soft hands.”
As can be seen from the excerpt, some NFL analysts at CBS are uncertain whether or not the Bears tight end will be able to build off of his strong rookie campaign, let alone replicate it. If he is able to put together another strong year in his second NFL season, Loveland will undoubtedly be considered a top-three tight end in the game at this point next year.
