Chicago White Sox: MLB analyst has strong words of optimism as team remains top-10 in power rankings
The Chicago White Sox have made to the Major League Baseball 2026 All-Star break. Who could have thought, before the season, that at this point in the year, they would be tied for the lead in the American League Central Division and one of just a handful of AL teams with a winning record?
After three consecutive seasons with more than 100 losses, including the worst record in MLB history in 2024, Chicago has emerged from the cellar further along in their rebuild than many thought.
This is not to say they have been elite. There are plenty of issues the team still can and needs to fix. But the fact of the matter is that, even as they are, the White Sox are one of the best teams in the league.
MLB analyst puts haters on blast as Chicago White Sox maintain top-10 ranking
At 50-45, the White Sox are tied with the Cleveland Guardians atop the AL Central. They got swept by the Boston Red Sox last week, but bounced back to sweep the Athletics.
Bleacher Report ranked Chicago as the ninth-best team in Major League Baseball after the weekend, writing:
“The White Sox ended up stuck in the middle of two teams heading in polar opposite directions, contributing to both the nine-game winning streak of the Red Sox and the nine-game losing streak of the Athletics. Though he didn’t homer, Munetaka Murakami returned for the latter, more encouraging series, which began with a 14-1 win fueled by Tristan Peters hitting for the cycle.
“If you’ve been waiting for this team to fade, here’s hoping you haven’t been holding your breath.”
Indeed, every time it has appeared that the White Sox were going to come down to earth, they have been able to bounced back. Now with Munetaka Murakami back, their offense is even more dangerous.
If they are able to land a stellar pitcher or two at the MLB trade deadline, they could be a force in the AL for the rest of the season.
