Fans push Caitlin Clark trade narrative amid latest Fever development
Caitlin Clark was out of action on Saturday as the Indiana Fever blew out the Los Angeles Sparks at home, 111-87. This was the two-time All-Star’s second missed game of the season after she sat out on May 20 against the Portland Fire. It was the same back issue that forced Clark to miss both games.
The 6-foot guard tweaked her back on Wednesday against the Phoenix Mercury. She hit the ground hard in the first half after a foul on a three-point attempt. Clark played through the issue, but the Fever ultimately ruled her out for the rest of the game in the third quarter.

Caitlin Clark’s absence from Fever practice raises suspicion
The Fever returned to practice on Tuesday. However, Clark was not in the facility. Reports later emerged that the former Iowa Hawkeyes star missed practice due to her lingering back injury. Sophie Cunningham did not practice either due to an illness.
This latest development on Clark’s injury has raised a red flag for some fans. While many believe this is nothing more than a precautionary move by the Fever to protect Clark’s long-term health, others have pursued a conspiracy theory that the team is preparing to trade their cornerstone star.
“Caitlin Clark is not practicing, doing individual work… YALL WORRIED YET???” a comment on X read.
“So you know Sophie is getting punished. CC probably doing individual workout till she is traded,” suggested another.
“If Caitlin hasn’t even started team practice then there’s no way she’s playing aces. I see a trade coming,” predicted a user.
“What a surprise the two people against the system is supposedly out. I think Caitlin doesn’t play the aces. Maybe getting traded,” a user wrote.
“the trade is cooking!
” a reaction read.
“this would be ideal!” agreed another.
To be clear, there are no substantiated reports of the Fever considering a potential blockbuster trade involving Clark. However, this has not stopped some overzealous fans from pushing the narrative. It is possible that this sentiment stems from all the disappointment surrounding Clark’s tenure with the Fever. Some supporters believe that she would be better off packing her bags and leaving town.
The Fever have a few more practices this week as they prepare for Sunday’s matchup against the Las Vegas Aces. All eyes will be on Clark’s status in the coming days.
