OTL: The Calm Before Camp
Welcome back Ravens flock. This week is our final Friday without football, as camp starts next Wednesday.
As we approach an all important training camp the energy just seems to be different, now that John Harbaugh is gone and Jesse Minter is in.
But from the way that both have spoken to their teams and comparing them just seems like night and day:
Like look at Harbaugh try to get his new team motivated:

Man what a snooze fest. Not to sound like the jaded ex who posts things on purpose to try make the other jealous but good lord get me a pillow and a blanket after that speech.
Now let’s get back to what actually matters: what Minter has already done with the Ravens so far:
Head Coach Jesse Minter joins The Lounge to discuss what he wants to accomplish this season and more.

I get Minter wasn’t giving a speech here, but I can’t state enough how much Minter has said right in his time of being the head coach. He clearly cares a ton about the organization but also seems like he has a very clear vision of how to fix the Ravens and sustain success.
He just sounds like someone who has his head screwed on right and someone who has a eye for detail and I would be shocked at this point if he didn’t work out for the Ravens.
The other side of this is what Ravens wired showed us about our new OC Declan Doyle:
Tunnel vision gets it done!

You listen to this guy talk, and man: it just seems like the Ravens might have found one of those guys. The type of coach you worry about losing every offseason because if he has any type of success some team is going to make him a Head Coach.
The fact that he talks like that and he is so young and green as a coordinator as well? It gets you dreaming.
No offense to Harbs, but it just seems like he always has so much hubris when he speaks; a very old-school, “my way or the highway” type of guy who is too stuck in his ways to see other angles.
Meanwhile, when Minter and the new coaches speak there is a confidence in which I don’t sense hubris; rather, I sense an understanding of how things could work out and a willingness to adapt when needed.
I understand these are all words and the coaches actions in games are going to speak louder than these speeches, but we don’t have those games right now. This is all we have and I am just brimming with confidence that the problems that have sunk this team can and will get fixed:
Watching #Ravens Wired — hard not to believe this team won’t flip the switch on sharper preparation. The coaching jumps off the screen. Real teachers.
And wow…Declan Doyle.
Lamar: “Sometimes he sees things I didn’t see. Sometimes I see things he didn’t see.” Collaboration.

So as we head into a all important trading camp – the first without Harbaugh in nearly 20 years – something is going to different, and you know what? Change can be good. The Ravens needed a different way of doing things, and I believe they have it now.
