Aliyah Boston not happy with Indiana Fever fans

Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston

The Indiana Fever organization expressed support for Stephanie White, including players like Aliyah Boston. Fans booed the head coach during the introductions at Tuesday’s home game against the New York Liberty.

She delivered a strong statement against those who criticized her during her pregame availability. Some accused White of not having her players’ backs, particularly Sophie Cunningham after an opponent hit her on the head. DiJonai Carrington committed the foul on Saturday, resulting in a Flagrant 2 foul and an ejection. White spoke about the incident after the matchup, and many believed she protected the Chicago Sky guard rather than Cunningham.

Caitlin Clark showed her support for the 49-year-old by hugging her after she was introduced and appeared to whisper words of encouragement. Boston expressed her support during Thursday’s interview.

The four-time All-Star made it clear that she was unhappy with fans for their actions. She also praised White for how she has been doing her job and leading Indiana this season.

“I feel like there’s no reason for any of that,” Boston said. “I mean, we come out here we do everything that we want can to win. Steph does a great job with us. We love her and we appreciate her. To hear that, it was really annoying, honestly, and disrespectful. But for us, I mean, we kept the main thing the main thing. And we said we’re going to come out here. We’re going to get that done.”

Boston and Fever won 106-92, with the 24-year-old contributing 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Kelsey Mitchell led the way with 28 points, while Clark produced 22 points and 10 assists. New York, on the other hand, saw Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart lead with 19 points each.

Indiana will return to action on Friday when it hosts the Dallas Wings. A win will give the team its third straight victory and will push its record to 22-12.
