Sophie Cunningham declares her MVP — and it’s not Caitlin Clark
Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark have showcased their chemistry on and off the court. They have strengthened their bond as teammates with the Indiana Fever, producing good results for the franchise since they teamed up.
In January 2025, the Fever acquired Cunningham via a trade with the Phoenix Mercury. She has established herself as an enforcer and has provided the team with a lot of grit and tenacity. The Missouri product has become one of Indiana’s most consistent bench contributors this season, averaging 9.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
She remains with the team despite emerging as a potential trade candidate ahead of the deadline. The Fever will continue to rely on Cunningham as they aim for a higher seed in the playoffs to give them a better shot at winning the title.

Sophie Cunningham names her MVP
Cunningham posted a carousel of photos on Instagram on Monday. It featured her pregame outfits and different on-court moments this season. Kelsey Mitchell commented with “sophhhh

The 29-year-old replied to Mitchell and named her as the MVP, not Clark.
“@kelz_hoop MVP
,” Cunningham wrote.
Mitchell is currently on a hot scoring streak. She has scored 20-plus points in 14 straight games, strengthening her bid to win the WNBA’s highest individual honor.
The Fever are coming off a 108-100 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday. The defeat snapped their five-game winning streak and dropped them to 19-11 for the season. Mitchell scored a game-high 37 points built on six three-pointers, but Cunningham managed just three points and two rebounds.
They will return to action on Thursday when they host the Las Vegas Aces at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Indiana has its sights set on getting back on track, and the team will need Mitchell to continue her high-scoring ways and Cunningham to produce more.
