Bears guard Jonah Jackson highlights silver lining of Caleb Williams injury

Jonah Jackson, Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears will be without Caleb Williams when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. The star quarterback suffered a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter versus the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2 and exited the field. However, Jonah Jackson sees a silver lining even if the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner will be sidelined.

Williams completed 15-of-26 passes for 138 yards against one interception. The defense sacked him three times. The 24-year-old did not return after entering the locker room and Tyson Bagent replaced him under center. Bagent recorded 5-of-9 completions for 54 yards in the 9-3 defeat. Chicago received more bad news as he showed concussion symptoms and the team officially listed him as questionable for Week 3. Case Keenum will likely start if doctors don’t clear Bagent to play.

Jackson, on the other hand, has been with the team since March 2025. He arrived via a trade with the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a sixth-round pick in last year’s draft. He is a veteran guard who understands the game well and has brought a lot of experience to the Bears’ table.

Chicago Bears: Jonah Jackson speaks on Caleb Williams’ injury

Reporters asked Jackson on Saturday to share his thoughts about Chicago’s quarterback situation. He emphasized that he is happy to hear that Williams will recover soon. The 29-year-old added that Ben Johnson has been preparing Case Keenum and Miller Moss for the QB1 and QB2 roles.

“It’s definitely great to know your brother is going to be alright,” Jackson said. “We’ve got two other guys who are fully capable of doing the job and no other guy to get him ready than Ben Johnson. So we’ll be alright.”

Keenum has 80 NFL regular-season games under his belt. However, he last started one in 2023. Meanwhile, Moss signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent this year.

Both may not be on the same level as Williams, but Jackson expressed a lot of belief in them and his head coach. Monday’s matchup will be a big test for the entire team as it wants to avoid going below .500. The Eagles are 2-0 to start the season and are looking to add to Chicago’s woes.
