Chicago Bears’ injury problems made worse as Tyrique Stevenson joins Caleb Williams
The Chicago Bears were dealt a potential knockout punch when quarterback Caleb Williams had to be carted off the field. But their injury problems didn’t stop there.
Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was forced to leave the game shortly after Williams. He was ultimately diagnosed with a hamstring injury and was ruled doubtful to return, the team announced. Stevenson didn’t make his way back onto the field.
The cornerback had a number of highlight plays throughout the game, ultimately putting up five tackles, one for a loss and a pass defended. While the weather played a significant factor as well, and that Carson Wentz was the one throwing, the Bears did hold the Vikings to 143 passing yards. Seeing as the Bears lost 9-3 though, that’s a bit of a moot point.
Heading into Week 3, the focus will be on Williams’ health. While Tyson Bagent has been deemed a capable backup, not many match what Williams brings to the field. But at the same time, they must be prepared. Players like Malik Muhammad and Clark Phillips III will be asked to take a further step forward.
The Bears exited their Week 2 loss against the Vikings with plenty of questions to answer. Stevenson’s injury status remains towards the top of the list of potential concerns.
