Where Common Sense And Logic Betray Us

I came across this article today.  While the author presented this article very well, I do not share his sentiments.  The author writes:

“The above states the gist of classical monism. It is obvious that Parmenides is wrong, although his deductions are logically correct. The problem lies in the axiom; he assumes that the intelligible word and the things themselves have a common form of existence. Parmenides attempted to build his metaphysics on basis of the logical conclusions derived from this axiom. Although the resulting theory is erroneous, his methodology was a genuine innovation.”

And:

“Since Eleatic philosophy grossly contradicts common sense, it is unsurprising that his teachings brought forth critical challenge and ridicule among his contemporaries. It was Parmenides’ brightest disciple, Zeno (some say he was his lover, too), who became the chief defender of his master’s position.  “

The author of this article is convinced of a “logical” and “common sense” view of existence.  He quickly writes “it is obvious that Parmenides is wrong” without really telling us how or why Parmenides is wrong.  The writer trusts that his common sense does not deceive him.  The writer even seems quite appalled that the paradoxes Zeno presents “grossly contradicts common sense.”  It doesn’t matter that these paradoxes guard the divine world, what matters is that they “do not make any sense” to him–therefore, logically, he believes that Parmenides must be wrong.  This to me represents the often arrogant mindset of modern thinkers.  They cannot understand that their inability to answer these paradoxes is solely because they are out of touch with the Pleroma. 

While “common sense” does indeed serve us well from the perspective of an embodied individual living in the physical world, at the sub-atomic level “common sense” begins to betray us.  Therefore, the rules of logic simply do not apply.  We find that the appearance and behavior of physical matter is far different the more we begin to investigate and “magnify” it.  Even worse, on the “quantum” level we begin to find that quite possibly “matter” doesn’t really exist at all.  This only proves what I wrote in my previous article on the Pleroma (Zeno’s Paradoxes also reveals this): the fundamental equation of the universe is 0=0, the physical world we are witnessing before us is a derivative of something much greater that we are unable to see.  The physical domain is in fact a nothing that presents itself as a substantial something.

In a very sly and subtle attack, the author of the article goes on to say that Zeno was possibly the homosexual lover of Parmenides.  This type of tactic is a way of marginalizing a thinker via ad hominem.  Ultimately, this statement had no place in the article.  One has to wonder the reason it was placed there to begin with.

It has seemed to me for a very long time that there is a very subtle current of hostility aimed at the past.  The modern mind tends to pass judgment on the past through a modern lens.  Sadly, by marginalizing thinkers or reducing what they have to offer to “old and tired ideas” we cling to new ideas that have no root in the timeless.  We convince ourselves that we have evolved beyond the need of such ideas because now we are living in a technological age that is too big to fail.  Yet unknown to the modern mind, these ideas represent a bridge not only to the past, but also to the future.  Here is why.

A finger that is no longer connected to its body will become necrotic and die.  A world disconnected from the timeless, which is its totality also grows dark and dies.  While many people today view our modern era as a progression or possibly a transformation leading toward a glorious future, they are patently wrong.  You don’t need to be a genius to figure any of this out. We are standing on the edge of a cliff over an enormous chasm.  Every facet of this world from the economy to art has degenerated to the point of no return.  If you don’t believe me explain how we can go from this to this.  One represents Musica Universalis, which is the music of the Celestial Domain carried in the breezes of that divine world,  and the other is pure guttural rot.

I find it very difficult to understand how so many are unable to see this gradual decline.  It exists even in human language which we use to communicate every day.  Now when I write posts like this I generally get commentors saying that I am being too bleak or that I offer up little hope for the future.  That is partially true and partially false.   In regard to the modern world, I do believe it is too late.  I believe there are cycles of birth and death that are inescapable in every world that has become partitioned from the Pleroma. This world has become necrotized and the signs of that are literally everywhere.  The problem is that these cosmic cycles begin the moment we break away from the real world and become isolated in time and space.  So while it appears things are disintegrating in the physical domain, and they are, what is really taking place is a reconciliation and a reintegration of the physical into its root.   The real hurdle is allowing the physical humanity to find its real self because when that day arrives, and the physical domain completes its creative cycle, everything that is not reconciled inherits oblivion simply because it was never “real” to begin with.
