Pretty Buff Blond People Stop By...

So… this is most likely NOTHING at all, but I’m going to record it just in case I’m wrong and something more of this comes later. You never know…

Gerick was outside talking on the phone with his mother and smoking at just past sunset when a unknown vehicle pulled into the lot. (We pay attention to these things, obviously.)

It was a pick-up truck with unusual metallic paint– Gerick couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be gold or silver in the fading blue light of dusk– but it was very shiny. He didn’t recognize the people who pulled up.

First a young woman got out, looking to be between 19 and 24 or so, and she was feeling very obviously enthusiastic and cheerful. She sort of bounced out of the truck and came boldly down into the yard by our community area by the parking lot and was looking around smiling. She had long blond hair and was no one Gerick had ever seen before. She was just beautiful, though- and very tall, lean, looking very healthy and in shape.

Right behind her came a guy with dark blond hair, who was also very tall and very good looking. “These 2 looked snatched out of a Hollywood movie,” was how Gerick phrased it, “fresh out of a gym minus the sweat.” The young man was about the same age and was noticeably buffed up and muscular, though not like a body builder– just very strong and sturdy looking, despite his tall frame. Gerick was sure he’d never seen either young adult before, and was wondering what the heck these people were doing on the property– but his mother was saying something on the phone, so he waited a while longer before approaching to ask what was up.

The blond woman gestured towards the south end of White Gables’ yard and looked back at the man coming up behind her, saying happily, “The property goes all the way back to the tree line!”  The guy was calmer, but he nodded and looked around at everything, acting as though he had never been here before.

Then the woman trotted right across the backyard, bold as you please, as though she HAD been here before, or at least knew about the place in some detail before coming, and she was looking around and pointing out the garden and chickens, as if to say, “isn’t this cool?” to her male companion. She was saying things along the lines of how perfect the place was– and at this point Gerick got a little alarmed, because she was almost acting like a prospective buyer.

But then she said something that made it clear she wasn’t in the market– and it was this last line that freaked Gerick out a little, actually. The woman pointed at an apartment at one end and said, “… and she lives right there!” very happily. Then she sort of half-skipped back to the guy and he was nodding thoughtfully and they both walked back to their oddly painted truck, got in, and drove off.

It all happened so quickly that Gerick had no real time to react. He didn’t feel threatened, but he was disturbed.

The apartment the woman pointed at was the one we used to live in. After us, Shayla lived there, and now another lady and her teenaged daughter. There are four possible “shes”. Gerick wasted no time asking the current occupants if the people described were her friends– they were very in shape and the tenant in question is a fitness instructor, so that would make sense. But she knows no one that fits the description, let alone in either a gold or silver pick up truck. She promised to ask around though- find out if maybe the people knew her daughter (though they seemed too old to be friends of hers.)  We also asked Shayla, but we pretty much have seen all her visiting friends by now and none of them look like that, which she confirmed herself.

There is also the remote possibility they may have been referring to me. I have a public online blog that a stalker has already cracked and then found out where I live. If it happened once, it could happen again. That person also thought I lived in my old apartment at the end where the blond woman pointed because we never filled out a change of address card. We just directly told every party we could think of that we moved and where. The public record, therefore, shows us as still living in a different apartment than we actually do.

Gerick would take note of such an event with any stranger who came by and acted in such a manner, but the fact these particular people were extra pretty, extra tall, extra fit, and blond to boot gave him extra reason to pause. Its probably nothing, but… duly noted all the same.
