Two-headed alligator caught and now on display in Tampa, Florida

Earlier this year UPI international newswire confirmed that Tampa, Florida resident, Justin Arnold, had photographed a two headed alligator.  

“According to Florida Fish and Wildlife, this alligator has been reported by several people. They explained that failed separation of monozygotic twins is common in reptiles and amphibians but they rarely reach this juvenille stage.”

After the photo went viral on the internet, local licensed trappers set out to capture the alligator. It was eventually caught on a baited hook near the Seminole Heights park where it was originally photographed. As with many alligators caught using this method, it did not survive the ordeal. 

The alligator was brought to a local taxidermist where it was preserved for display at a popular local venue, Ella’s Folk-art Cafe. It has become a popular destination for all those interested in the strange and unusual coming through the Tampa area.
