5 Most Famous Haunted Places of the World
Have you ever experienced the rush of adrenalin down your spine while watching a horror movie? Doesn’t it look highly exciting to walk through the pathways of a haunted house set up during a carnival? Have any of your friends ever dared you to walk through a graveyard alone during the time of the night? Although, being at a haunted place is scary yet exciting, but there are certain places in the world which can scare you to death by merely being there.
“The Island of Dolls” or La Isla de la Munecas
Mexico City is definitely a very popular tourist place, however La Isla de la Munecas, commonly known as the Island of Dolls, situated in its South, has to be one of the places which can actually scare any living soul to death. Don’t get fooled by its name as this island has actually got some really scary looking dolls hanging down from almost every tree in that place. The dolls are either mutilated or deformed. According to the locals, the dolls were bought and hung by a man named Don Julian Santana as a shrine to the body of a young girl which he discovered afloat on the shore. The island is almost deserted and some of the people who have ever been there say that they feel as if they are being constantly watched.
The Bhangar Fort
If you are scared of travelling to Mexico and you think that India is a perfect tourist destination, then think twice. One of the most frightening places called the Bhangar Fort is situated in Rajasthan, which is considered as the heart of India. This fort was built in the 16th century and comprises of the ruins of different palaces, places of worship and houses. According to the legend, the place was cursed by a wizard who apparently fell in love with a princess, who did not love him back. But, this is not just it. The part which is bound to give anyone the chills is the fact that no one is allowed to stay there overnight by the Archaeological Survey of India.
Hunedoara Castle – Transylvania
Hunedoara or the Hunyad castle is definitely the most terrifying castle in the world. Home to Vlad the Impaler, history suggests the even before he lived over there, the place released some sort of a dark auora because of which no one ever invaded it.
The Winchester Mystery House
If you are a fan of Supernatural, then the name Winchester must be familiar to you. However, the Winchester Mystery House situated in San Jose, USA is not owned by them. It is a Victorian style mansion which was built by the widow of William Wirt Winchester. Sarah Winchester led a very tragic life as she lost her husband and her daughters quite early. According to her, the family was haunted by every single spirit which the Winchester’s had ever killed; ranging from the Native Indians to the Civil War soldiers. As an act of reciprocation to those spirits, she built the Winchester Mystery House which might be accommodating at least more than 160 spirits today.
The Suicide Forest – Trees of the Sea (Aokigahara)
Aokigahara or the Trees of the Sea is situated in the northwest of Mount Fuji in Japan. This forest is devoid of any type of wildlife owing to the dense amount of trees present over there which block the entrance of air into the forest. The forest is also pitch dark and if you ever plan to go over there, you need to take a flashlight with you. But, this is where the trap lies. This is the second most popular place when it comes to committing suicide; so you are likely to trip over some skulls, or even encounter a wandering spirit, while having a jog.
