The homeless situation in America BREAKS my heart. I often provide some food and water and a little cash to a few gentlemen every week or so on my drive home each morning and they kindly thank me. Here in Florida, in the area where I live, it costs $7 per night to sleep in the shelters from around 8pm – 6am. The fact that it costs ANY money for one night in a shelter is just unbelievable to me.
The break down of a society that rejects God.
You see the filth and shame those people are living in? That’s exactly what Democrat politicians want for us all and don’t feel we deserve anything more than that while they get everything and live behind walled security fences and protected by bodyguards. They are hypocrites… do as I say and not as I do.

A majority of the homeless people are suffering from mental illness and it’s past time to reopen large mental institutions. The police are shuttling them from town to town and the citizens are the ones paying. A young woman was bludgeoned with a sledge hammer at a laundry mat today in Los Vegas. This has to stop… 😢

Remember the man that built all those tiny houses, first with his own money, then with the help of fundraising? With his own hands, he built those tiny homes equippes with a lock on the door, window, solar light bulbs,an electric outlet to plug things in, and even carpeted! He gave them to random homeless people and they were so happy, you’d think that he gave them a mansion. They sobbed with humility and thankfulness to this man. They were so grateful because those tiny homes changed their lives. They had a safe place to lay their heads at night. Guess what happened? The city tore the houses down while the builder and the occupant could do nothing but watch and cry. Some residents actually rallied against the tiny homes and complained to city council. I can’t remember her name but it was actually a local black woman who led the campaign to get the houses destroyed. She said they were “dangerous to her children,” and “An eye sore.” How is giving the homeless a home more dangerous than them living on the streets? The houses didn’t bring more homeless to the community and how is it more of an eye sore than what is happening now? I dunno. Maybe the town could give a lot or piece of land for the tiny houses to be built on. They keep saying they are building apartments downtown for all the homeless with the millions of dollars of funding they’re getting but they squander it. They have theives and cockroaches infesting the local governments out West. I think there is some embezzlement going on.

I’m sure there’s hundreds of reasons of why this happening. Poor economy, people down on their luck, some substance abuse, some mental health, etc… And some illegals. Now I totally agree that those who are American citizens ONLY? Yea them, They should Absolutely be HELPED to get back on their feet and those with mental health issues need to be put in a hospital by Drs and pastors. I just took my son to Seattle to hang out on his 18th birthday. Someone used the bathroom right next to our car while it was parked downtown. It’s disgusting. The reason why those people were arrested, released and not held is because no money could be made off of them. The system wants workers for free ( slave labor) and or people with money to pay the lawyers , judges and fees. If you have some money, they will arrest and keep you until you pay the ransom. There are cob homes we could build in a designative areas. Homes made out of the earth, straw, clay, sand & chicken wires. Extremely inexpensive!! Very durable! That’s my dream. I’ve been homeless before & with kids so I’m aware of what so many others are sadly dealing with.

Never did drugs/alcohol/nor EVER had a criminal record. My 8-year-old CHILD and I were treated HORRIBLY, cops harassing us day and night – did I ever learn about AMERICANS and LAW ENFORCEMENT. Compassion? My ass. And I’m not even a minority. Americans have this NOT IN MY BACKYARD mentality. I did the impossible and got myself out of homelessness and joblessness but not before doing unspeakable acts (not criminal though). AMERICANS ‘caring’ about the homeless IS A SICK JOKE. I think the average person can help with food and clothes. Cans of food and clothes you dont use and maybe a few dollars. These people who are addicted to drugs and have mental illness need serious help. That doesn’t come cheap. You will have to pay for rehab, mental hopspital, other medical help for disease, and these people will need a case worker to guide them and keep them on track. If there are 85,000 of them they could put the billion dollars they are spending on really fixing the problem. There are other things too like job training if they are able and housing. I really dont see any other way to fix the problem except by taking each person and meeting their needs.

I’ve seen this before somewhere else. Truly abhorrent how humanity is being treated or not helped as they should be. Some leaders just don’t care and need to be replaced with those who do and will act. Crimes against humanity is one of the worst things we can do, but God sees it all and will call for judgment to be carried out in surgical-like action one day.

I was employed by the New York State Department of Social Services as a Caseworker in the City of New York from 1990 – 95 and also served as a NYPD Auxiliary Police Officer in the 24th Precinct 1990-93. I volunteered with the Department of Veterans Affairs as a street ‘Outreach Worker’ reaching out to homeless veterans on the streets of NYC. Back in the 1990′s resources to help individuals in need was scarce but available. Those same resources have worn thin and the amount of homeless has increased diametrically year after year. A true public discussion is necessitated on how we can at least start moving forward with plans to eradicate homelessness in our streets and despair in our cities and countryside’s. The problem is once the politicians get their hands on all that money how will it really be disseminated/ allocated? We would be better off with Catholic Charities/ The Coalition for the Homeless etc. to be the groundbreaking agencies on how to solve thus huge and expanding crisis.
