Getting Ready For 2 New Weekend Guests

Whew! I’m wiped!

I just finished cleaning off the dining table and the bench that wraps around the kitchen/keeping room fireplace. Both were areas that Cat just kept dumping off extra mail and packages and current projects and then just… leaving them indefinitely. Aggravating! But I gave Cat notice I was cleaning them up since guests are coming this weekend and when nothing happened… I took it upon myself to take care of it.

I expect to get yelled at a little because Cat says it makes her feel out of control in her own home. Well– the solution to that is to NOT dump her stuff in SHARED areas! Just saying…

A lot of going up and down the stairs and in and outside, so more exhausting than it would be in a one-story home. But I shan’t complain because I love this house way too much! Which is also part of why I get so aggravated when Cat keeps using it like a dumping ground storage facility. She hides all the fabulous under piles of boxes and papers.

Le sigh.

Anyways…! So Tess’s mother Caroline is coming Friday night. She’s just going to “be in the area” she says, but who knows? I don’t know how much I’ll be expected to host. I know that at least it’s a great incentive for Tess to clean her room up really well– which I’m happy about, obviously.

Saturday afternoon, Caroline leaves and Camille comes for the night. I haven’t been able to socialize with her since the one night she came to spend with me during my divorce, and I was a hot mess back then! She wants a little time away from her family, where she’s taking care of her kids, husband, and bi-polar mother who refuses to take medication. Come to think of it, Caroline’s taking care of adult mentally ill children and their toddlers as well. She needs a night off, too.

I just want the house to look halfway decent so I can relax this weekend. The bonus is the house stays clean for a while after the guests go home, so it’s a good incentive to make it all pretty.
