My Foot Works For First Time In A Year

Something clicked today– or, rather, didn’t...

My foot finally didn’t have that weird weak, dragging, thunking thing going on. It felt quite odd. I realized just walking around to do a couple of chores and a quick trip out (for bird food supplies) that I was walking completely normally. And, though my foot didn’t feel 100% normal, it was moving and ACTING normal. It’s been over a year since I could walk without a pronounced limp (if at all). Even when I walked slowly and carefully and could conceal the weak push off with my right foot, I could always FEEL the weakness there.

Today– weakness GONE. Just gone. For no reason. Why today and not yesterday? I didn’t do anything different.

Well… except about once every 3 days for the last 2 weeks I’ve been going out to scooter around on that electric gadget that is so much damned fun and I could feel that I was working out that foot by simply holding it semi-up on my toes to balance as I rode around. Apparently, THAT use of my foot was more healing than all the exercises and workouts I’ve tried on and off since I could walk without a walker! I’m talking the physical therapy shit they gave me to do with a pamphlet and all that!

I tippy-toed around a little today to experiment and work out my foot further. I was able to easily tippy-toe walk for a good 20 yards. It was amazing! I stopped, however, because I know not to overdo it… but wow!

I am so excited to dance again. I haven’t been able to do my style of dancing and it is really bothering me! I know I’ll have some more slow downs and setbacks, but at least NOW I know that walking and dancing and running will all come back to me very soon. I was beginning to think it never would.
