Trump Not A Racist, He's a "Me-ist" Using Racists

For many years now, I’ve been saying that Trump is more like Mussolini than Hitler. Mussolini was a buffoon, a narcissist, and didn’t really hold any beliefs, but he was skilled at pulling the “ignorant peasants” and slum-dwellers into his sphere by saying what they wanted to hear. His reign was short-lived and slap-dash at best. Hitler, by contrast, was a fanatic believer and rode that belief all the way, carefully planning and calculating his reign, even visiting Mussolini at one point to learn how he gathered followers.

Finally, someone has written an article that agrees with me, though without using the Mussolini reference (because Americans are so badly versed on history that most wouldn’t understand what that meant anyways…)

And, believe me, it does. I still think we have a chance to vote this asshole out of office peacefully. I’m worried we won’t, but he’s not really smart enough (I don’t think) to declare martial law and appoint himself dictator.

What really worries me is a potential Hitler that comes after him, now knowing what can be done, because Trump just showed them how to do it. How to use propaganda on the anti-intellectual classes. How to “divide and conquer” Americans. What promises to make to get elected. How to withstand and shrug off shame and scandal.

If we don’t fix some extremely messed up things, we are all likely to meet a true monster in our near future, who takes up where Trump left off and really turns the U.S. into the Fourth Reich.
