Covid-19 Updates: 4,004 Cases In My County, 40 Deaths

Total cases and deaths reached a new milestone here on the peninsula. Over 4,000 total cases here was reached at the very beginning of the new year, and 40 total deaths.

That’s a total of 444 wow!] new cases identified and 5 more deaths– a HUGE jump for deaths here in quite a while. 300 new cases per week was the ‘old bad’ high number, but that’s quickly becoming history as we keep hitting more than that.

We’re seeing the tail-end of the “Thanksgiving Surge” and we have yet to see the “Christmas Surge” that is sure to be quite a bit worse. In a month, we’ll be seeing that.

Still, I thank my lucky stars that I’m living in liberal Washington State which is making sure we don’t have evictions, DO have unemployment coverage, and mandates for masks and other measures as needed. I’m seeing and hearing how much worse it is in Red states, who aren’t even accurately reporting the numbers in many cases to evade looking bad, but hospital availability tells the tale better. They’re doing triage in some states now.

My friend Trish is finally feeling much better most days, though she still has some fatigue. She’s back to doing art and being active around her home. It appears she’ll get past this without long-term consequences, but it was still about a month and a half of being sick to beat Covid, so that’s FAR WORSE than any flu she said she’s ever had. I am happy she’s made it through, as has her son, and no one else in their household caught it (or at least were asymptomatic) because they isolated in a part of the house together for a month. Amber and Blue are still doing well, so I’m quite relieved for them.

I’m worried that my trip to the doctor’s office exposed me, but I was super careful and so far, I’m only dealing with the fallout from the antibiotics, which, after killing my gut bacteria, are creating a flare issue. Looks like I’m going to have a rough week coming up, but I hope not.
