Successful Surgery

I made it to the other side everyone!

I’m super happy it’s over and behind me.

I had chemical help to keep me calm getting there, and all the medications I needed before and afterwards. I started antibiotics a couple days early this time as well, which should have been done last time. I was able to ask them to put the IV in my left arm, instead of my right, as my right side is much more sensitive to pain. I didn’t have the same nurse as last time, but instead got an older woman who has been advocating for me from the beginning– I finally got to see her face!

Afterwards, I “came to” in the car when Cat parked at home, and she and Mike got me inside and to my bed, and then I slept the rest of that day.

That was Tuesday. Two days later and I feel so much better it isn’t funny. My mouth still hurts, but it’s healing very quickly. Best of all, between the surgery (which found more infection than they first thought) and the antibiotics, my chronic sinusitis has been clearing up, and I can freaking BREATHE through my nose without any problems! I’m hoping this means that when I finally clear this stubborn infection I’ve had for 14 years (!!!!) perhaps some of my immune issues will improve.

AND— I can start talking about something far less ICKY than all this biology-gone-wrong business combined with my own trauma issues!

We’ll have a full house for Thanksgiving, as Reese, Sleep, Amara/River, and my sister will all be joining us. I think I’ll be up for it by then too!

I don’t know how my mother will deal with being abandoned for the holiday, but she won’t be joining Dorla, because Dorla’s traveling to see other relatives at that time. However, I guess my mother is reaping what she’s sown–! Neither daughter cares to spend the day in a hoarder’s filthy house and she’s not welcome at Cat’s house, so… there you go. I don’t feel sorry for her. I don’t enjoy it either– it’s just… the way it is and I’m okay with it, I suppose. Maybe some contemplation is called for on her part, but I doubt it’ll move her to change her ways, so– fuck it!

I’m supposed to talk to the social worker again after Thanksgiving to discuss next steps. I honestly don’t think I’ll be ready for “next steps” (to gain my sister access to her own money) until January. I need some down time to heal and deal. I have my follow up appointment in mid-December, and I don’t need to overload myself the way I did last month and then fuck up spectacularly again.
