Thanksgiving 2022

I’m pretty wiped out these days, but I managed to roast a turkey– even turning it over so the back skin was crispy instead of mushy– all the same. I managed 70% of our Feast this year, with Cat doing her homemade cranberry sauce and rolls. I did the green beans and the stuffing with mushrooms, pine nuts, and celery on top of the turkey. Amara brought dessert (we’re so into her many pear recipes… and none of us really likes pears that much, but when she makes them, OMG!)

My sister attended as well, and we allowed her to bring her cat. I haven’t spent this holiday with her since 2012. My mother spent Thanksgiving with my cousin Lisa and her husband, since my aunt Dora went to Utah to be with her sister Sharon as Sharon’s husband, my uncle James, just died last week. I’ll go over that more later, I think. As it is, I emailed Lisa to thank her for taking my mother in. I don’t feel guilty for having my sister visit though, not at all! Still, one must acknowledge the sacrifices of others…!

Erica seemed pretty okay most of the week (she’s going back Sunday) but she did have a few crying jags over an uncle dying that she barely knew. Erica loves to get all worked up about things and cry about them. I urged her to come out and watch a couple of shows with the rest of the tribe to throw off some of that negativity, and it seemed to work pretty well.

Reese, Sleep, and Rhonda– Reese’s sister, were all here. Rhonda’s kids were not, choosing to be with their grandparents this year. Rhonda is nearly done with her divorce. Her soon-to-be-ex stopped dragging his feet after his own teenage kids confronted him and told them they didn’t love him anymore and wanted him out of their life. He completely deserved it, though, after tormenting them for his own amusement for the last two years at least. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior, except maybe a brain tumor.

Cat was thrilled to have Reese to go Black Friday Lego shopping with, though! I’m not up for it these days, but Reese loves that type of thing, though not so early in the morning! Cat drove. LOL!

Sleep and I got a chance to hang out and talk about some things and it was nice. It feels like he and are are back to normal, only better, because we hashed out some misunderstandings and we’re more clear about our boundaries now.
