The Beltane That Wasn't

Friday, Reese and Sleep came over to spend a single night after dropping off a U-haul truckload of plants from Rhonda’s house that she just sold. They were clearly just wiped out, having been helping Rhonda pack up and move for the last 2+ weeks. I made a beef stew for dinner that was really good (if I do say so myself) and Saturday, we all ate an amazing enchilada that Sleep made for our lunch. The weather FINALLY broke 70 degrees! It’s been a very cool and wet spring, so this break was most welcome. We spent a lot of time on our back deck just hanging out, talking, and relaxing. Life seems a little more promising now that things are moving forward again.

With everything going on, however, I wasn’t able to be ready for Beltane on Sunday. Amara herself just recovered from a terrible upper respiratory infection, so she wasn’t feeling so perky either. It’s the first time in a very long time I’ve had to cancel a sabbat!

Still… she managed to visit today, coming over to socialize a little and drop off a bookcase for our witches’ attic upstairs. She and Cat had a good talk before I joined them and then we all had a very relaxed and yet lively chat. Cat really is at more ease with Amara than most people, and I still shake my head to see it. I’m thrilled of course! Amara just has a very gentle, sweet disposition that makes it easy to be around her.

Amara was telling us about her friends who live near Blue Heron Lake (near where Cat and I used to live before moving to Cedar Cove) and she’s clearly feeling very welcome and happy to socialize with them. She gave tarot readings to everyone there on Saturday. So– before she left us today, I gave her a tarot reading using the new deck of Viking Runic tarot cards that Reese and Sleep gave me for my birthday. The reading was MOSTLY Major Arcana cards, so it was very powerful. And… it was about her becoming a witch (which seemed appropriate given that it was a sabbat and she was with us at Heron Hold). It basically said that she was on the right path to learning, and that despite many obstacles, she was truly giving it her all and that this would pay off in the end. It even ended with the Norns/Wheel of Fortune card, which– if upright– means luck will be on her side!

She’s offered to give me one ride either coming or going from Oregon and a place to stay for a few days while I work some things out with my sister’s finances! So now I just need to find one more ride and make sure both my aunt Dora and my sister’s case manager are free for a meeting at the same time so I can plan when to be down there. I’ve almost got this next thing figured out!
