The World Tree Vision

Today I was reeling from another migraine, and I took some cannabis (5 mg THC, small dose) to treat it. (Cannabis is very effective at combating the pain and nausea of migraine and cluster headaches, so I’m extremely grateful it’s legal in our state!)

Since it relaxes me and allows me to focus in a different way than my normal beta brain wave awake state, I often use such times to meditate and just allow anything that wants to come to me to do so. I might get a quick image or sound sometimes, but generally nothing really happens and that’s fine. I don’t force anything, I’m just open to things if they come along while I’m in a deeply relaxed state.

Every few months though, it seems like I’m getting shamanic visions. First, it was the Nordic gods and Njord in chalk drawings, then the “World Serpent” vision in black and white ink drawing style. Those gave me lots to think about!

Today, several weeks later, I got an AI-styled 3-dimensional animated vision of the World Tree, complete with a female voice over, telling me a few things! So… I just watched and felt out what I was seeing…

I saw a seed rocking and a sprout busting out, followed by a sped-up visual of the sprout turning into a sapling, and then a huge tree. It was spinning as it was growing, in patterns like fractals. The trunk got wider and taller, the roots went into the earth deeper and deeper, and the crown burst out with leaves and then pink and white flowers that grew into red fruit resembling small, bright red, pomegranates! It went on and on and ON, just getting bigger and bigger for over 20 minutes!

The woman’s voice was subtle but clear. She was talking about how the World Tree was a female manifestation of “parthenogenesis” (which is when an animal, usually a reptile, spontaneously gets pregnant without a male) on the planes of existence. The power of females, their natural part in all of creation, was sacred and deeply meaningful. I got the point early, but these points were repeated several times. There were some eyes and several openings or doors all over the World Tree– and I knew these were worlds or pocket dimensions upon the basic Overworld, Middleworld, and Underworld planes of existence that is a common motif of many shamanic beliefs including pre-Christian European ones.

Then, towards the end of the vision, the World Serpent came along and slithered up the tree. It “bit” an opening towards the top of the tree, and the other head (2-headed, no “tail” per se) bit at the roots. The voice over confirmed my suspicion that the World Serpent represented a passageway between dimensions– like a gateway between our physical plane and the spiritual plane we can access after we die and before we’re born. The Serpent went through the tree and made tunnels using it’s body between different points of the tree, like a short-cut system. Pretty gnarly! The Serpent was more of a male energy, very small like a sperm against a World Tree that was giant in comparison, like an egg. Life itself is only possible because we traverse the planes of existence in this way…

Now it seems like the visions I’m getting are lessons explaining certain spiritual teachings, and they have a point and a purpose beyond just being cool and interesting. I saw no sign of Njord, but this all started with his contacting me, and so I’m grateful to have something, some meaning, behind these visions. They are compelling and I’m massively curious to see what’s coming next!

The last bit before the vision faded out was quite memorable. The voice asked me to notice that what I was seeing regarding the World Tree and the Serpent was similar to the Jewish/Christian mythology of the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden and the Snake that enticed Eve to eat of the fruit and learn. Since I wasn’t raised Christian, that didn’t pop out in my mind as important– but duly noted! Anyways, the voice pointed out the misunderstanding of this spiritual dynamic, always seeking to undermine and disempower the Divine Feminine at every turn. The desert religions have turned away from the goddess and the critical interplay between energies of the feminine and masculine powers, thus causing imbalance and foolishness that is behind the ongoing destruction of the biosphere.

And… my reaction was pretty much, “No fucking duh!” I’ve been singing that tune since my teens!

The whole “trip” was surprising and sometimes almost over-the-top, but once I saw it, it made sense on a very deep level. I know I was being shown metaphors for a type of energetic spiritual dynamic that underlies our existence, and I thought it was a very clever way of explaining a complex principle. However, I will say that both the Serpent and the Tree feel very real in a personal way on some level. It’s hard to explain, but I could feel the MIND behind the mechanisms, if that makes any sense. There was no threat, no evil, no bullshit– just a “way of things” type of cycle. I’m rather grateful I don’t have the early childhood religious indoctrination that could give me fear of something so amazing and clearly right.

As far as what I can DO with this information–? I’m not sure. I suspect I’m being led down a path to learn how to do something or be something, and I’m absolutely happy to see where this goes. I never before conceived of the World Serpent being a sentient passageway between planes. The World Tree mythologies I’m far more familiar with. Both concepts are found throughout the world in various different cultures. They’re pretty much Universal except with the Abrahamic religions, which have bastardized the old wisdom into something nefarious and dangerous! But that is very typical of the patriarchal war mentality of the followers of the Abrahamic god Yahweh/Jehovah/Allah. They removed references to God’s wife, the equally powerful Goddess, called Ashara or Astarte because they couldn’t bear to have anything impressive be female, except maybe an ordinary woman used as a vessel to birth a demi-god like Yeshua/Jesus. But rewriting the myths to erase the original beliefs is all a part of how we arrived where we are today… you “kill” the Goddess and you kill yourself. Quite clearly, that’s not sustainable!
