Finally Opening My New Group To New People

This week I went to the longest running witchcraft store in my area of the peninsula to put up a flyer for new women to join my pagan group. Now that Amara is well into her first year as a Sun Sister, it’ll be easier to train more people. I hope to train Amara to take over the Questors and Initiates within another year or so, actually. I have to be careful how I divvy up my time, given how little energy I have, so Amara being able to take over some beginner-level stuff would be very helpful.

I’m not sure what kind of reception I’ll get. I asked for local women over 21 only, because I seek to lower the drama and the predatory or lazy behavior I got from some of the men who joined the group the last time I did this. Some came looking for pussy, and others seemed to think women should pick up after them as a matter of course, and I just don’t even wanna deal with that shit. But also–? Women were less naturally themselves with men around far too often, or got caught up in love triangles over pagan men in the group, leading to 2 divorces! Heather left her husband for this kid, Daryl, and was spinning up drama because Daryl was into Ember over her (because she was gigantically fat and pouty) and Ember wouldn’t be clear to Daryl that she would never be into him.

All that–? Wouldn’t have happened if there were no men in the group.

I am sick of competing for attention and respect from men or women who would never think twice about following a male leader. I just don’t even want to deal with it at this stage of my life. I may eventually open my group to men as well, but only after a decade or something so that women were in firmly established leadership positions. But then again, maybe not…

I don’t know if I’ll get much help using a paper flyer as opposed to online sources, but honestly–? There aren’t really any places I can find that make such listings anymore. Back in the 90s, we used free pagan flyers to advertise groups, then came Witchvox in the ’00s and ’10s. But in the last 12 or 13 years there hasn’t been a central location to let people know you’re open to new members, so I’m not sure what I’ll do if the flyers don’t get any hits.
