Have you used this method to keep animals from getting into your food?

Comment #1: I hang the food up, as well as the trash. Not for bears, but we have a lot of smaller animals that like to tear stuff up.
Comment #2: I usually tie rock to throw across the tree branch: a bag can easily get snagged on branches and rip. But hanging mu food is the preferred method.
Comment #3: The problem I usually find is that there is never a *perfect* tree limb 15-20 feet above the ground. we usually settle for less than perfect and pray for a good night’s bear-free sleep.
Comment #4: For the trash, we just throw everything in the fire at the end of the night, even the cans. By morning everything has burnt off, and as for the cans, the labels and the rest of any food has burnt out of them, so we only have a clean can to take back with us, and the bears cant smell anything from them.
