On Their First-Ever Hunt!

Sportsman Channel

New Berlin, WI – It’s no joking matter when Steven Rinella takes two comedians out to hunt the rugged wilds of Montana.

In a first for outdoor television, Steven Rinella and his hit show MeatEater, a Sportsman Channel original series, take first-time hunters and celebrity comedians Joe Rogan and Bryan Callen out to the Missouri Breaks region of Montana for a chilly, but memorable, mule deer hunt.

The two-part episode begins with the premier of part one on Sunday, April 28 at 9 pm ET/PT and concludes with the premiere of part two on Sunday, May 5 at 9 pm ET/PT, exclusively on Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American sportsman. GET A SNEAK PEEK OF THE SERIES:  TODAY at 4 pm PT/7 pm ET, Rogan and Rinella are discussing their first hunt together on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Rogan’s long form conversation comedy podcast. Watch it live on Ustream: http://www.ustream.tv/joerogan The podcast will be available later on iTunes, YouTube and Sirius XM’s “The Virus” channel on Saturdays at Noon ET. and Sundays at 5:00 AM and 6:00 PM ET.

Joe Rogan has been a fan of Rinella since he watched MeatEater more than a year ago, and has invited Steven to speak about hunting and other topics on The Joe Rogan Experience. “We had an immediate connection and his intense desire to hunt for the first time is something I couldn’t ignore,” said Rinella about Rogan.

The more the two starting talking, the more excited Rogan was for his first trip.  As plans for a hunt solidified Rogan invited his best friend, comedian Bryan Callen, along for his first hunting experience as well.

The failures and success of both men ensure they’ll pack their bags again for another hunting trip.

When Rogan eventually connected with his buck, he was full of gratitude for the experience.

No MeatEater episode would be complete without Rinella showcasing how to cook what is harvested in the field.  This recent James Beard Award nominee tries a new recipe inspired by meals that were traditionally cooked by mountain men who used the Missouri River as a thoroughfare – roasted deer head.  They skin the head and bury it under a smoldering fire for roughly three hours.  For good measure, they also decide to roast the neck and stuff the heart with apples and onions.
