Does The Government Have Too Much Power?

A majority of 54% of Americans answered Yes to this question in a recent national poll. 76% of Republicans believe the government has too much power, while only 32% of Democrats share this opinion. Which is only natural, you can`t expect more from Obama`s leeches. However, two question rise from these results, as Justin Higgins from JHPolitics addresses them:

“What I really want to know is, who are the Republicans who don’t think the federal government is too powerful? Also, why do Democrats who think the federal government is too strong continue to vote for liberal candidates who continue to expand the realm of government intrusiveness? If anything, this poll shows that Republicans need to hone their critique of expansive government and continue running on the message.”

I couldn`t agree more. And as pessimistic as it may sound, I don`t think that “more than half of the American population believe the government has too much power” is enough. Especially since the numbers have barely changed since 2005. This is an annual poll and, for 8 years now, the numbers have stayed pretty much the same: a little higher than in 2012, and slightly lower than in 2010 and 2011. For example, in 2012 there were 30% of Democrats believing the government has too much power, while now there`s an extra 2%. Nothing impressive and the thing is… it should be! Judging by the abuses that have been happening lately (abuses that I`ve, personally, only heard about in stories about totalitarian countries), Americans should have ALL voted not with Yes, but with Damn right they`ve got too much power!

Just think about it: this poll was made after the recent governmental abuses leaked to the public. However, Americans are so ignorant they have no idea how much control the government has over them.

“Most people are shocked when they learn that law enforcement or government agencies like the Department of Insurance can get the contents of email or find out everywhere you’ve been for the past two months by going directly to your service provider”, said Greg Foster, of EFF Austin, according to RTAmerica.

This has been in the online news (and not only on the Internet, but in newspapers, and even on TV) ever since Obama started to monitor e-mails and phones. So how could you not know this? How can this still be a shock for Americans? I don`t think I could go through life not knowing anything about my freedom. It`s like living a life that`s not even mine. Which leads me to the conclusion that the Big Brother theory is as real as it gets. A Big Brother could watch over an entire country and control its every citizen without them even realising that. And they`d simply go through life like cattle, not knowing or even wanting to know that they`re being controlled.

So, the actual question that needs to be asked here is: what are WE going to do?  I mean WE, the ones who are tired to watch Obama violate our rights and our liberties, to watch the U.S.A. turn into a prison, to see how the future of our kids is looking more and more terrifying by the day… How do we protect our freedom?

Remember, we are just a minority. Our voice is just a whisper in a crowd full of sheeple that nod their heads and sing the U.S. anthem with pink glasses glued to their faces. Our fellow Americans couldn`t care less that Obama is toying with institutions such as the IRS as he pleases, that he jails journalists who dare to reveal the truth or people who threaten him over Twitter... They have no idea they`re being monitored in their own homes, on the street, in parks or in public means of transportation.

So how can we fight against the system when we`re the only 5% that actually cares about the future of this country? How can we make our voice heard? Because as much as we`d prepare for this on our own, building stockpiles and training ourselves and our families to live an independent life… We are citizens of the United States of America. Our kids and grandkids go to school here. We abide by the laws of the state we live in. And, soon enough, these laws might very well become our cages. Our enemies. So what is there to do?
