Alternative Weapons
Justin De Souza asks: “Other than a firearm, what is a good weapon to have?”
Comment #1: Bow, crossbow, slingshot, Blow Dart Guns…got em !!!
Comment #2: A DOG! They’ve been protecting us for centuries. Surprised no one mentioned that yet.
Comment #3: KNOWLEDGE is number 1 after that if not a gun learn to use a bow a good knife a tomahawk other possibilities are a recurve crossbow
Comment #4: Bow,axe, sling bow, sling shot, knives.
Comment #5: Tactical walking stick. It’s multifunctional and discrete. Knives are good if you know how to use then and are prepared to use them otherwise they are a liability and a weapon for an assailant. Hatchets are ubiquitous and multifunctional. Bear mace and hornet spray are good deterrents if kept visible, and are legal to posses openly. Above all, ones body. Basic self defense training is priceless.
Comment #6: A thermonuclear device is an excellent deterrent.
Comment #7: If you have a good knife and some instruction/practice you can make as many weapons as you will ever need. Staff, bow, arrows, spear, traps, club…

They forgot to mention the catapult or trebuchete. Always handy for siege situations.
I don’t know what a trebuchete is, but catapult is English for slingshot (US). Yeah, they’re good.
A trebuchet is a french design of basically a catapult. But it can make longer distances since it uses a counter weight action (usually a big rock) to provide more force to the arm.
Don’t forget grandma. A naked granny without a bra on is so disgusting enemies have been known to drop their weapons down in disgust and walk away.
That’s the best one. Naked Granny trumps all.
OK then, Naked Granny in a trebuchet for the win!
My step dad recently told me his dad carried a 38 pistol in the front of his belt and a sap in his back pocket.
A sap being a heavy spring with a leaded end wrapped in leather. Saps are illegal in Washington state and maybe everywhere? That is because they are a deadly weapon.
Now the interesting thing is that a paracord keychain with a master lock on one end is perfectly legal.
My stepdad also said that when he was in the military he saw a man severally beaten with a bar of soap in a sock, he said the man was gravely injured and a bar of soap in a sock is not to be taken lightly either.
FYI my stepdad grew up in the back woods of Louisiana, he saw things most of us only hear about in horror movies.
Also in respect to #5 when I was a kid a gang of guys where threatening me and had already hit me a couple of times. I pulled out a knife from my pack and threatened them to back off or else. Unfortunately I was bluffing, I was not willing to kill them with it. I took the worst beating of my life that day. Now that I understand the law better I know it would have been self defense , but back then I didn’t. I was scared of being locked away for the rest of my life.
In regards to that I learned this.
#1 Never pull a weapon you are not willing to use.
#2 Never let your enemy see your weapon before you have used it.
yes it’s brutal, but it will save your life and nice people don’t attack you.
