Radama 2 Tent Review
Earlier this summer I picked up a tent and thought I’d give a quick review of it. This is a Peregrine Radama 2 Man tent. I found it on Camping Supply.com (one of our sponsors) and thought I’d give it a try as I was down a tent. At $139 I figured I couldn’t go wrong, so I ordered one.
One of the things I really like about it is how easy it is to set it up. It’s got a great vestibule and plenty of room inside for two people. Have you ever bought a “t
wo man” tent, but when you and a buddy went to get into it it was more like a 1 ½ man tent? Not this baby, it truly has room for two people. The vestibule will hold a pack and the tent itself will comfortably hold two people.
I took it hiking in the fall with my two nephews. My oldest nephew took half and I carried the other half, which is a good way to split the burden of carrying gear. The full tent weighs about 5 ½ pounds, so carrying a little over two pounds for a sweet shelter was a bargain. It’s light enough that if I wanted to carry it myself I could, even though it’s not considered and ultralight tent.
Here are the specs right off the web site:
Sleeps: 2 people
Total Weight: 5 lbs 7 oz
Minimum Weight: 3lbs 6oz (poles, floor protector, fly)Size: 90.5″ x 59″ x 45.3″
Vestibules: 2
Poles: 2 DAC Pressfit™ 7001 8.5mm Aluminum
Wall, Fly & Floor: 75D 190T polyester PU2000mm
Mesh: 40D Nylon
Doors: 2 with 4 guy lines
Windows: 4 mesh windows
Storage: 4 pockets, 4 gear loft loops, Gear Loft Theater
Fast Flight Floor Protector: 90″x59″x45″ and 8.5oz
Two doors make it easy for either person to get in or out of the tent without bothering the other, which is nice in the middle of the night.
The poles clip in nicely to the tent and once you’ve done it it’s pretty easy to set up.
Over all a very nice tent for the price. If I’m camping in the late fall or winter I prefer a tent because it helps to retain a little heat. In the summer it helps keep the bugs off, so I basically like to at least have the option of using a tent if I go camping. This tent fits my needs very well and if you’re looking for a small, affordable tent then you should give this one a serious look.
