Gifts From the Pantry: PEPPERMINT SUGAR SCRUB (+ Giveaway)
This week we had a gift exchange and everyone brought their favorite item for under $5. I’m lame, so I won’t mention what I brought, but the coolest gift was this peppermint sugar scrub. I ended up not being able to steal it (darn) so I asked Michelle from On A Wing And A Prayer, if she would explain how to make it. Not only is it super simple to make, but you can use whatever oil or flavoring you like to suit your mood or tastes!
During the winter months, our skin suffers due to lack of moisture in the air.
Sugar scrubs are very easy to make with 3 simple ingredients:
- SUGAR is excellent for exfoliating rough and flaky cells thereby rejuvenating the skin.
- COCONUT OIL softens and hydrates the newly revealed cells, leaving your skin moisturized, softened and silky smooth.
- PEPPERMINT OIL is known to provide relief from stress and calms the nerves.
If you prefer another scent, other essential oils that could be used are Lavender (calming and soothing), Lemon (uplifting and improves circulation), Wild Orange (energizing) or Geranium (skin balancing) to name a few.
Peppermint Sugar Scrub
Ingredients:
- Divide the sugar, coconut oil and peppermint oil evenly between two bowls.
- Mix the ingredients together thoroughly in each bowl. In one, add beet juice or red food coloring to the desired shade.
- Alternately layer the two sugar mixtures in a clean and dry container, tapping the mixture periodically with the handle of any kitchen utensil. Or if you prefer, the coloring can be omitted.
My coconut oil of choice is Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil. This coconut oil is extracted by traditional methods giving this product a higher level of antioxidants than other brands. It’s heavenly and very moisturizing.
