Murphy’s Law and Prepping for Survival

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

If there’s a single important lesson we learn from history – and indeed from life itself – it is that if something can go wrong, it most probably will.

On October 29, 1929, the day that is to be known as Black Tuesday, US stock market prices suddenly collapsed and heralded the coming of a severe economic depression that not only affected the United States but many other nations in the world. This event we now know as the Great Depression lasted until the mid-1940s. During the Depression, banks closed and many people went bankrupt because they were not able to get to their money on time. Businesses and industry were affected due to loss of capital from the stock market crash or from bank closures and started cutting back on workers’ wages. Consumer spending was drastically curbed and the lack of consumer spending led to more cutting back of wages or laying off of workers. Many businesses were forced to close leaving their workers unemployed. During the Great Depression, the Great Plains was struck by a drought that caused the Dust Bowl, leaving many farmers without a livelihood and in debt and caused 2.5 million Americans to flee the affected regions.

In 1992, Hurricane Andrew caused extensive damage in the Bahamas, Florida, and Louisiana. The tropical cyclone’s high winds spawned tornadoes and caused most of the damages. Almost 177,000 people were displaced and 65 lost their lives. Hurricane Andrew is among the costliest disasters to hit the U.S. causing $26.5 billion in losses.

In 2004, the Indian Ocean tsunami with an estimated magnitude of 9.15caused a tsunami that killed 200,000 to 310,000 people along the shores of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, South India, and Thailand.

In 2005, hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast and proceeded to wreak destruction and death. Many lives were lost, many properties damaged beyond repair and made the country $81 billion poorer.

This list can go on and on…

And it shows only that disasters happen. As Murphy’s Law state:

So what do you need to do?

Simple…

And start NOW!
