One city is thus far taking the evil lead in a widespread child sexual abuse scandal being exposed involving VIP pedophilia rings, some of the largest organizations, including the United Nations and peacekeeping soldiers are under investigation after generations of cover ups.  Operation Whistle alone is investigating 45 suspects and four institutions in the vicinity of Jersey. Thirteen of those 45 suspects are celebrities, politicians and sports stars.

Seventy six cases of suspected child sexual exploitation were reported in Jersey alone last year, says a report by the Safeguarding Partnership Board. Det Supt Stewart Gull, Head of Crime Services, at the States of Jersey Police said a dedicated team had now been set up to investigate abuse.

Regarding suspects under investigation, Det Supt Gull said, “People of public promise will include politicians, people in the media, celebrities and generally people who are well-known.”

254 children were reported missing on 400 occasions, in Jersey last year. Det Supt Gull said this could be one of the key signs a young person was being exploited. During an independent Jersey Care Inquiry investigating child abuse in Jersey’s care system dating back to 1945, the alarming new cases came to light.

“It is such a sensitive subject and a type of crime that people may think would not happen in Jersey,” he said last month shortly after the investigation began.

Alan Collins, the lawyer representing Jersey abuse victims said, “I observed some excellent police work, but also on looking at some cases, have been perplexed by a failure to pursue inquiries or to prosecute. I am hoping that the [committee of inquiry] will afford an opportunity to get to the heart of this, and get some answers.”

Operation Hydrant has investigated 1,400 suspects, including politicians and celebrities. Esther Baker, a survivor of a VIP pedophile ring, has broken anonymity to encourage other survivors to break their silence to testify.

“Baker claims there are other victims and hopes her recent move will encourage them to come forward despite the fact that they were all threatened with consequences at the time. ‘I know why they are scared,’ Baker said during an interview.”

They are scared but do not think of themselves as being victims. Many think all children are treated that way, equating the abuse with love.

“Victims often do not see themselves as victims but rather in a loving relationship”, said Det Supt Gull. “They do not recognize they are being [mind-] controlled by a manipulative individual and the reality of how they feel is usually something quite different.”
